That A-5 vs Q-Q was certainly THE hand of the night !!......and I have to say VERY ul there Warwickman.
I firmly believe though that its not the hands you play but the ones you fold that win you multi-table tournies and I am sure that George (and possibly a few others) will remember berating me for a fold when we were down to the last 2 tables.
I made it 48k to go with the blinds at 8k/16k from early position, leaving me around 78k behind. It was folded round to Ant66, a fellow member of the Black Country Poker Club(We had three at tonight"s FT) and an ABSOLUTE ROCK !!
He pushed all-in for 83k and although it was only 35k more to me to win 153k, to lose would virtually put me out.
I folded my A-J, simply because I know the player. The fact that he told me he also had A-J made me feel a little sick, but I then went on a rush of cards, getting KK, QQ, AK and AQ within 5 hands !!
Was it a correct fold ?
Well most players who talk about pot-odds tend to be watching and my thoughts were that I was racing at best, but as Ant wont normally get out of bed unless he has A-K, I decided to wait for a better spot. On this occasion it paid off.
I am still learning this game but I set myself targets all the time and I can tell you that to win this Title makes me so proud.
I have been in great form recently, making 11 Final Tables from my last 28 multi"s , yet I won NONE of them !
Tonight I rode my luck at times (Sorry Matt !!) but I was due a win and will be there at Cardiff to collect my trophy.....hopefully, I will still be there AFTER dinner this year too !!
Many thanks to my mates at the BCPC for your support tonight and to George, a constant blind-stealing menace to my right tonight, we will arrange a tourney between our two groups, hopefully both at Leicester and West Brom, for later on in the year.
Thank-You again from one VERY proud Champion.
