Can"t remember its name but the place with the strip view in the Palazzo did a fine brekkie (bit pricey though)

I"d put MGM grand down as my Bill"s

Can"t disagree with Caesers and Venetian at the top (though those that have been recently will say the Aria - maybe)

Bad experience at the Aria stopped me listing it.

Went there on my last visit for a tourney that was supposed to have 200+ runners. It got 9, due to some sort of cock up on the advertising. The room for the tourney was deep inside the hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the casino. Also poorly signed.

I guess it was very new then so wrong to judge on the 1 experience but it isn"t on my top 5 until I visit again.

Guess what - OUT with AJ.

55th for $31.69

Qualified via satellite for $4.

$2716.80 up top, not a bad tourney.

Interesting week after getting my shoulder Operation last Wednesday. Was probably at my lowest point for a long time over the last few weeks. Pain and lack of sleep can get to you after a while. Anyway, my positive side said it can only get better and the following is hopefully a sign that I"m right.

When APAT announced that 888 was the new sponsor for Season 5 I deposited and played a few low stakes games to get used to the software etc. Then the APAT games began and future games were in the lobby for registration. So I duly registered for everything, league games, online championships, and also $122 for the Coventry live national. Leigh then offers up the Grand National freeroll so I stick $10 e/w on the horse I got in Wayne"s APAT sweepstake. This left me with $3 in my account.   :"( Having planned to play more online poker during my time off sick this wasn"t good.

So, I get 2nd in the National. This gives me entry into 3 bunch of fives tourneys as well as some cash in my account $40 or so.   ;D

Leigh then reminds me I haven"t bought in for the individual event in Newcastle. This was due to the fact I currently can"t get showered or dressed by myself and whilst my wife is joining me for the team event she isn"t available for the weekend. However, over the days following the Op my pain is managed through drugs (and wine!) and movement is getting better so I think I will cope. This leaves me with the problem of not having enough for the $122 buy-in.  :"(

So - 2 days of grinding later I have $129. Played 6-handed SnG"s, 10 handed Double or Nothings and a bit of Push or Fold cash.  ;D

Bought into Newcastle and now have $7 in the account  :-\

But I still have 3 Bunch o Fives tourneys and a $1000 National freeroll.  ;D

Didn"t play well in 1 of the Bunch O Fives, got unlucky in another, and min cashed in another which (almost) paid for the other 2 that week. I"m now back to $3 in the account and the Online championships are at the weekend so I need $77  :-\

So last night I play the $1000 Grand National Freeroll and get 4th place for $120  ;D

This morning I buy-in for the weekend events and I have have $46 in the account  ;D

Back to the grind!!!

Got an email from eh...another site that isn"t 888poker  ;D the other day inviting me to play a freeroll.

Played it (last night) at 7pm and reached final table at 11.30pm.

1532 runners and I finish 8th for 3 whole euros.

What I don"t understand is that sites surely give away freerolls to encourage people to play there. I have never hated winning as much in all my life. I won"t be playing it again and it"s put me off the site more than attracted me to it.

Compare it to the previously freeroll where I beat about 40 players and win $120 and I know which site I"ll be playing on in future.

3rd in the Omaha tourney tonight.

An early suck out against Ger with KKxx v AAxx set me on my way.

Had a rush of cards from about 25 out and was chip leader for a while. Then went card dead with about 13 left so went into final table about 3rd/4th in chips.

Some solid players on the FT and I was generally pleased with my play. Got lucky with 887Q double suited when I got it all in on the turn drawing to both suits on a board of 4974. Hit the 7 on the river to beat his AQQJ.

Then lost an AIPF 4 handed with AJJ8 doubled suited v Andrew T"s 78KK.

Rest was pretty standard stuff (I think)

Fought through the bank holiday traffic and finally back home in Leeds after collecting the kids from Scotland.

Gutted that I couldn"t stay in Newcastle for the weekend but have some fantastic memories from the team event on Thursday/Friday.

Some of the highlights:

Premature celebration
The first SnG"s were going well for Scotland "A" and it was only me left HU with Waz. I get it all in with A9 v J6 and with no help for England on the board my teammates congratulate me on the win. I then hear the words "he"s got change". Both Warren and I thought I started the hand with most chips but we sit back down. I have 15150 he has 850. All-in blind, he wins. The next few minutes are a bit of a blur but Warren won the next 2 also so and if he wins one more its going to be 9k v 7k. I had a King, he had a Queen and my heart sank when I see the Queen on the turn, what I didn"t see was i had made my flush - thank feck for that!! Hand shake number 2 and a good laugh all round.

SnG
OK, this wasn"t a Tighty run SnG and I regretted sitting at it about 20 seconds in. We agreed 15 minutes blinds, a starting stack and a buy-in (£5). No-one however mentioned what the game was. So an irritating man started dealing Omaha - epic fail and the cards are pulled back in. Ger snr then tries dealing Omaha - epic fail and we agree to play NLHE just to make it easier!

After the volume increased a notch or two and the poker decreased I decided to bail out and start pushing all-in. Ger jnr was dealing by this point. Ger snr was on my right and shoved the remainder of his stack. I look down at 53o but stick to my decision to bail and also shove all-in. Grant on my left is getting a headache thanks to irritating man so also shoves. Then the fun starts - first of all I tell Ger he is ahead - we argue this point for some time and eventually agree a £5 side bet on who has the worst hand. I can"t repeat Gers words on a public forum as he turned over 84s and handed over £5

Then Ger jnr deals the board and tries to work out who has won what. Grant won the hand and Gers 8 beat my 5 but Ger jnr pointed out that I started the hand with more chips. So after getting a ruling from the TD (Ger jnr!) Ger snr was out and I had change - lol. Well all I could hear for the next hour was cries of "my own fecking flesh and blood ffs!"

Tighty"s Tag Team SnG (TTTSNG)
I tried to persuade MrsSirP to play this as being female does give you a significant advantage in a Tighty SnG. However she was understandably nervous and in actual fact had gotten so frustrated at the other SnG that she was currently dealing it to a finish  :D

So I team up with Mary Martin and take my seat. Now I"m not going to even attempt to explain the rules of a TTTSNG but we somehow won the first hand by throwing away trip jacks and playing 72o.  ???

I then see our huge chip lead bleeding away as Mary is penalised for "Over enthusiastic Scottish squealing"
It was all made better by seeing Andy Overton complain about only being allowed 5 seconds to make a decision. Andy, if you are taking more than 2 seconds to make a decision in a Tighty SnG then you are over analysing the game - lol

anyway, thanks to all for a great few days, my fellow teammates Ian, Grant and Chris, my fellow Scots Grant, Louis, Mary and Shug, to all the other teams, to those that arrived early for the weekend and joined us, and of course most of all to Tighty, Leigh, James and Paulie and the staff at Aspers. Cheers all - see you next time!
