Happy New Year to all my APAT friends.

Of all the things I could be doing on Auld Years Nite I have decided to stay in and watch the Back to the Future trilogy with my 15year old daughter who hasn"t seen them. Happy days.

Well it"s that time of year where veryone starts new blogs about resolutions and the like. or in the case of this forum it might be about poker goals for the year.

I don"t really make resolutions but I do set myself goals now and then (not just at new year).

This year however I"m struggling. Is that a bad sign?

Thinking of spending all my poker bankroll on tring to satelitte into bigger events, Genting and UKIPT being my preferred options but leaving myself enough to play the APATs obviuosly.

So the Genting Poker Series is £430 for a seat, the UKIPT £770. How much do I set aside for sats?

Do I play lots of £5+£0.50 feeders into the £55 for the GPS? Surely even I could win 1/10!

Well I guess there"s no time like the present to get started so decided to play the £5 feeder tonight.

46 players, 4 seats to £55 sat up for grabs. (5th-11th get paid cash, all of these are less than buy-in  ???)

If you"re planning to win 1/10 you may as well buy direct into the £55 for the same cost and save your time.

I was "planning" on winning the first one  :-[

Now planning on winning the second time round.

My problem will come if I haven"t one a single ticket from 10 trys. Do I keep going to even out the variance or do I give up and accept I suck at Poker?

Serious answer.

You keep going because you don"t suck at poker and you should be able to win more than one in ten I would guess (I don"t actually know what the standard is like but would be surprised if it was high enough to make this -EV for you, it"s obviously possible to run below EV for 10 games though).

Obviously just binking one of the first few is the way to go, yeah actually do that :-)
