Fair fa" your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o" the pudding-race!
Aboon them a" ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm :
Weel are ye wordy o"a grace
as lang"s my arm.

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o"need,
While thro" your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead.

His knife see rustic Labour dight,
An" cut you up wi" ready sleight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
Like ony ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reekin", rich!

Then, horn for horn, they stretch an" strive:
Deil tak the hindmost! on they drive,
Till a" their weel-swall"d kytes belyve
Are bent like drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
Bethankit! hums.

Is there that owre his French ragout
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad make her spew
Wi" perfect sconner,
Looks down wi" sneering, scornfu" view
On sic a dinner?

Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
as feckless as wither"d rash,
His spindle shank, a guid whip-lash;
His nieve a nit;
Thro" bloody flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!

But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread.
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He"ll mak it whissle;
An" legs an" arms, an" heads will sned,
Like taps o" thrissle.

Ye Pow"rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o" fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu" prayer
Gie her a haggis!

I haven"t updated this blog for a while, mainly because I haven"t played ANY poker for the last few weeks. It"s not that I don"t still love the game it"s just that I"ve been doing other stuff.

Anyway, I guess I"ve got something to get off my chest now so here goes.

I am pretty upset by some of the comments made yesterday in the online league thread, mainly by people who are uneffected by the clarification Des posted yesterday morning. I don"t have a problem with anyone expressing an opinion on any APAT issue but some of the comments were direct critisism of me (at least I perceive them that way) for stating my opinion. I am refer to the "some moaning" "rules are rules" type posts. Am I not allowed to give my opinion when I think something is wrong? Have we all just said yes that"s great Des on all previuos rulings? I think not.

I have reread each of my posts in the cold light of day and can honestly say they are all mearly expressing an opinion or asking for clarification. Maybe you refer to others and I"m just paraniod or maybe I"m too emotional about the subject to see my negative comments.

I would also like to thank all those who messaged me yesterday with there support, by text, facebook messages etc. It was much appreciated and I understand why you wouldn"t want to post on a publish forum. You know who you are - thank you.

Des and I and others had healthy debate last night on the issue and I have said from the start (it"s in the thread if you want to check) that I would support Des after his decision whatever it is. I am just grateful that Des was willing to listen to my arguments and opinion and those posting should consider this before making some of the comments they did.

I would welcome feedback but please don"t turn this thread into another debate on the same subject - that is done and we shall move on. PM me if you prefer. cheers.

The only negative comments I have read over the past day have been the queue of people looking to "shout down" those trying to have a discussion.

The heated debate thread which was locked ended with someone saying "try just saying thankyou - not thankyou ,, but" & "Feels like being at home with a bunch of kids"
I wanted to reply to this because I strongly disagreed.

In some respects I am a neutral in the debate because I live in North West England and was born in North West England and of course I, like all Apat members appreciate all the work which has gone into organising the league, and added value etc.
The so called "soft" or "hard" rules don"t make a scrap of difference to me.

My view was that players with strong feelings of patriotism (country of birth)  and comradeship (Luton Club) had a valid point of view, and had as much right to air their views as anyone else before the final decision was made.
The most distasteful parts of the debate to me were the "put downs" aimed at the members with strong allegiances.
It is easy to be critical when the rule changes don"t affect you. It should also be easy to see things from another person"s perspective without trying to belittle them.

Many thanks for posting this Zozzy. Heathly debate is fine but I was saddened by those saying that I should just accept something I felt strongly about and voiceing my opinion was wrong.

There have been many many things about APAT that have improved over time because of debate but for some reason some people seem to think it was wrong to debate this one?
