slow rolling opinion or ruling
« on: January 26, 2009, 14:11:02 PM »
i have put this on my blog but ill post my question here aswell, read this and post your opinion what should have happened:

i had  6h 5h and limped on the small blind, big checked, the flop  6s 8d qd, i fire a half pot bet and got called, the turn was  kc, i check and he does, the river was the  ts, i check and he bets, i call and he shows only the   ad, i show my hand and start to rake the pot when he goes "hold on ive got a ten", moves the ace and reveals the  td, i called for a ruling but everyone at the table said carry on, should i have won that hand or was i wrong, please let me know your opinion or does anyone knows the exact ruling?

it appears to me that he showed ace high as his hand and i thought my pair was winning, this is why im asking for your help as i was disgusted with it. it was not poker, it felt like cheating

He had the best hand, it is his pot... whether or not he is a bit of a **** for the way he revealed the hand is irrelevant - the cards speak.

This

When you call his river bet, you are paying to see both his cards, so you can demand to see them whther he has the best hand or not

His pot, but not good etiquette on his behalf.  For some reason many live players delight in taking an eternity to turn their cards over - or they turn them over one at a time.

If it"s a showdown, you must be there for a reason, and there"s no need to be embarrassed about your cards, so show them if it"s your turn to show.

i understand but he show the ace as "is this winning?" to see what i had first, if he showed both cards i would have said nice hand and got on with it and mucked my hand but if he asked then i would have shown both cards happily as i was in the lead until the river, anothe question, we were heads up so why didnt he raise with a10 suited due to my weak call???

He slow-rolled you, which just isn"t cricket, but he had the best hand.

Probably didn"t raise to add a bit deception to his game and so he could slow roll you later when he makes a pair of tens.  ;)

getting slow-rolled has to be up there with getting busted on a bad beat, or goning broke on the bubble, absoutlely sick.

The worst slowroll iv recived online was on Blue Sq when i pushed all in pre with 66, and the BB starts typing in the chat box "lol, ty, ty" waits for the clock to almost run down and calls and shows aces.....sick.

The best slowroll ever happened to me a while back online...

Can"t remember exact line but the board was a rainbow at the turn and I thought my pocket 9"s were good and go all in for what wasn"t too much. We had a bit of history so know the guy was slowrolling, anyway he waits until his timer is down to one second then calls with his pocket Aces only for me to hit a third 9 on the river.

ive played this bloke a few times so the call means a queen so i decided to call it a day with the hand, i called the river and the story has been told, i had a chat today with the bloke and he didnt mean to slow roll at all, he thought he showed the ten first and was worried what we had, still should have hit him lol. it just annoyed me also the fact that the rest of the table didnt bother to stop for a ruling/opinion but that was ages ago(slept since then) and said player has reassured both cards will be shown(he does play a bit and i believe him) so thank you for your opinions and facts and it will be stored in the memory bank for the next time(in my home game a slow roll is now a offence that if using the slow roll method, your hand regardless if its winning will be muckedand the other opponents win the pot)

Not interested in getting one, standard, set of rules and playing to them then?  >:(
