S3 Why do we play on Sunday?
« on: March 02, 2009, 18:19:24 PM »
I"m fairly new to the league but I was wondering why the matches are on a Sunday night when I guess most people work the following day.

Is it because people are doing other things Saturday night  - perhaps at casino , or wont Blue square allow tourney then. I was just thinking if you played Saturday night perhaps you could have deep stack tourney, with a view to finishing maybe about 2am.

In any case how would people think about starting maybe at 7 pm rather than 8. Again would Blue Square allow this  ?

Saturdays aren"t great for me. 7pm start on a Sunday gets my vote though.

I have a feeling that even after we"ve played round 19, there"ll still be a thread discussing the downsides of the structure and day of play!!

Leave as is (please), although with the 13 minute blinds that came in round 2.

The blinds will be put right for Leg 4.

Sunday is way better for me ... if it ever came to it a slightly earlier start good ...but no issues with current arrangements.

Great work.

Keep them on Sunday and preferably move the National On-lines to Sunday as well next year.

To be fair i think they should be played on different nights , cos 1 night will never suit everyone so if they could be different surely that is fairer?

Good point well made Scouse, but for scheduling purposes to make it same time same place means everyone knows when and where!

to be fair most peoples "poker night" is on a sunday mine included. A lot of us have family, friends, partners etc or just like to socialise on a sat night.

i wish the nationals were on a sunday too but i see scouse"s point!

Several 100 million people around the world play poker - a fair few in Britain.

I can"t see any way that you can generalise so much to say that most people play on a Sunday.

It is fair to say though Jon that the biggest poker night of the week is Sunday.  That"s when all the major guaranteed events happen on most of the networks and that is when traffic is at it"s highest.

It is fair.

But statistically most poker players on one day is not the same as most poker players.
