'Stars SCOOP anyone?
« on: March 06, 2009, 15:07:00 PM »
Not logged onto Stars in a week or so and I just noticed the SCOOP series they have running. It"s like the WCOOP only a lot of the buy-in"s are really reasonable and definitely in the reach of your average recreational player etc too. Think it looks like a great series - anybody planning on playing in it and if so, which events? Here"s my schedule so far:

Apr 4th - $22 Pot Limit Omaha (1 Rebuy & 1 Add-On) - $50K Guaranteed
Apr 6th - $16.50 NLHE (Heads Up) -$50K Guaranteed
Apr 10th - $22 NLHE (1 Rebuy & 1 Add-On) - $150k Guaranteed
Apr 11th - $55 Pot Limit Omaha - £50K Guaranteed

and depending on if I"ve cashed in (or won  :D) any of the events I might play:

Apr 12th - $109 Main Event (Low) - $1m Guaranteed
WCOAP 2009 Online Omaha Champion
WCOAP 2009 Online ME Final Tablist

I will be playing some of these, most likely:

Apr 5 - HORSE $109
Apr 7 - Stud H/L $22
Apr 8 - Razz $22
Apr 9 - 8 Game $44

And the ME is a possiblity and not sure which NLHE ones I wanna play.

Looks good tho I like the structure of the buy-ins to allow all levels of bankrolls to participate.

If any of you peeps are planning on playing event1-L ($5.50r) you better register soon. The field is to be capped at 9900 entrants and so far 7650 are already registered! and the thing doesnt start for 20 days. I reckon 200k pot plus!

I find that amazing for what is really just a $5 rebuy tournament, albeit with a $50k gtd prizepool, but that was always going to be smashed anyway.

Am I the only one that thinks the SCOOP series is not all that special ?

It"s nothing overly special but it"s good for lower stakes players to give them a sense of taking part in a big online series with the possibility of binking a massive first prize spot - or at least feeling like they could take it down for an hour or two. Y"know?

Each individual tournament is nothing special, but the innovation behind the whole series makes it stand out.

concept >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> realisation

But Stars is a top site so I"m not too fussed if they have the occasional overhype.

Don"t forget that the Poker Player Magazine SCOOP Freeroll is tonight at 8pm for all you subscribers.

The tournament can be found under Tournaments -> Regionals

There is a password in the April edition of the magazine.  If you don"t know the password, please don"t ask as someone telling you is not going to increase your ability to register for this tournament.   ;)
