I watched Berwick last week who conceded 3 goals vs Annan Athletic in 15 mins ... bad on the gambling front ... but broadly amusing on the fallen giant front ...

How many internationals?

I watched Queen of the South yesterady in the division above - truly terrible : Queens shortly to Ibrox in a cup - perhaps they will get the 10-0 treatment ... or perhaps they will blow and Rangers will fall over??

Train to London ... as good a time as any to plan holidays and possible poker tournaments ...

It looks like a spin to Cyprus is on the cards ... just for a week of g"teed sunshine and luxury ...

Poker - I would expect the Saturday tournament at the Fox will be too tempting to miss ...

I forgot that I had paralympics tickets that wipe out various events!

So next bow might be for the London GUKPT Main event - starting Sept 20/21st ...

The English Open at the Fox is just too spicy and too midweek ...

I have quite a lot of holiday to use so the plan is win the GUKPT then hot foot it to Cannes for the WSOPE ... "plan" ... replace with dream perhaps ...

Weird to not be at the ECOAP this weekend ... calendar crunch and I didn"t really think I warranted a place in the Scottish team ... maybe a return for the WCOAP??

Interesting hook up with the ISPT - promises to be an insane event - must find a route to qualify.

... spent all week looking forward to poker at The Fox ... but no dice ... as work could not be contained quickly enough!

Let"s see if that becomes lucky with the Big $100 just about to kick off ...

Calendar is too full with Paralympics - it will be interesting to see how it makes me feel.

By the end of the Olympics I was pretty bored of what is an Elite event sponsored by corporates ... hard to justify the airline style pricing for tickets ... what will the legacy be??

Lowlight of the week was Templeton joining Rangers ... one night scoring at Anfield ... then electing to play in Scottish Div 3 ... dull ... let"s see if Rangers can win 10-0 this week?

No poker ... no gambling ... but the sun has shone and I have basked ...

Scotland vs Serbia might be where it all goes wrong ... pretty much a 50/50 game ... don"t really feel that confident ...

Doesn"t look like either team can defend!

Quite enjoying Dixon getting the ball in ... what next??

Levein"s managerial qualities are unspeakable ...
Tough group - but you have to actually try to win ... spew ...

Suitably annoyed we headed to the Paralympics ... Wheelchair Basketball finals at the 02 ...

20 mins before the off - the flickering signs of a migraine - and no pills on me - off to the first aiders - and then the doctors ... who are being asking me about my vision ... in the next cubicle a guy dressed as Elvis with a cardboard guitar ... is this some hallucinatory test ... no apparently he is a doctor ... so that okay ...

I am fading fast ... but they deal up some paracetemol and codeine and off we go back to the arena ... vision still impaired and they are whipping up a storm just before the off ... super weird sporting experience in terms of being spaced out ... but amazing in terms of skill and bravery ... flying out of wheelchair headfirst ... then doing a super press up to right themselves ... Canada won the final with their star player Patick Anderson in dazzling form.

I loved the Paralympics - so much more than the Olypmics - felt more real in a way - people overcoming epic adversity and coming out all guns blazing ... The first event I watched was some female powerlifting ... the winner lifted 143kg ... are you kidding ... I have not been to the gym get to see what I could shift but I would guess something like 75kg!?!

I watched the goalball finals too ... a marvellous exhibtion of eccentric sportsman slinging medicine balls towards massive goals with the best technique for defending being to put your body on the line ... thud ...

Some very interesting tactics though ... sneaking around the court to take your opponents unawares ... epic time wasting by taking super slow shots at goal ... crowd booing this ... and being told to shut up by the refs as the players could not hear the ball coming ...

I will try to find a suitable clip ...

Closing ceremony was great though ... simpler and more effective than the Olympics ...

Finally back to a poker table entering the Unibet Open in London ...

Starting with 400BB so lots of scope to float ... and happily I soon turned a straight (also had the flush draw) vs the flopped set ... who could not get away from donating me the extra half of his chips following my all in with the nuts ...

Further ammo - but little progress partly due to the turned Q-flush taking a very conservative view versus my turned nut flush ...

Next phase - was pretty much card dead and then moved to a new table ... soon to be followed by Ben Vinson who once again had position on me ... I"ll give him the edge on the day"s play and we both live to fight another day ... but in a crazy last level with everyone looking for spots ... all that happened was the xy got shoved into KK or AA ... my x"s and y"s were too ropey to even push ... so not by design I return with 22,100 chips ... next level 600/1200 (100) ...

Noticeable exits ... including Toby Lewis ... so pleased to be back ... needing a double ...

Back to the tables at Midday.

Day 2 and not a hand in sight ... of course any two can be pushed but was keen to find a nice spot ...

Spot 1 was to push 89s back into maniac serial raiser pretty much knowing I will get called ... as it happened he found a caller ... so I got to see what would have been a beautiful flop including the 56 of diamonds for the straight draw flush ... he then went all in claiming at least top pair so no rabbits ...

My exit hand - early position raises - Charles Chattha flats presumably with a small/mid pair - I shove with QJs - initial raiser goes all in - leaving Chattha with a marginal decision - in which he decides to fold his pocket pair.

Sadly the original raiser holds AQo ... so drawing thin ... of course I hit the comedy queen but no further help ... oh to be against AK or JJ down ...

So no dice when it mattered ... ran well early on day 1 ... but never managed to spike a pocket pair ... one spike would have made a lot of difference ... last two and a half hours of play one pocket pair which I could have reshoved but would have been 55 vs AA vs KK ... and no Ace better than A-7 ... which would have been a chop ... not sure what is next up??

... but unfortunately poker was dong dong ... having being card dead so long at the unibet last night was a feast ... a feast of great starting hands and bad beats!

The APAT ME was the the exception with me playing badly and getting called for it!

In the Euro 7.5K g"tee - 20 Euro Rebuy - I had my Aces spiked with 4 clubs to a flush then built a stack before getting chopped down A8 vs T8 (straight on the river) ... then QQ vs KJ (straight on the river) ... then I squeezed QJo into KK no help at all ...

Likely the last poker for a while ... need to regain energy for next face to face MTT ... not convinced that I will get to Friday and dive into the GUKPT main event in London ... but stranger things have happened ... I would guess we are looking further away ...

Fox Super Saturday (re-entry)

The joys of re-entry are many ... so are the woes ... as I managed to get knocked out by the same player twice!

The first exit was avoidable - but give the table dynamics and bet sizing difficult.

Blinds 50/100 ... his standard raise was to 525 ... I call with AK in position ... flop 89T all spades ... I have the Ace of spades ... he bets out ... I call ... turn is a brick ... he bets out ... I can jam ... but I choose to fold ... he shows QQ including the spade ... so was never folding ... one of the other players would have flopped a flush so pretty thin in any case ... next hand ... he raises to 525 ... and is flat called ... I raise to 2025 with KK ... he calls ... flop is 9TJ with a flush draw ... fantastic ... he checks ... I bet ... he goes all in ... of course there are reasons to fold here but I really don"t believe him ... which is a shame as he flicks over the KQo ... loose call ... full value ...

I re-enter and have fun building a stack ... until the villain is moved to my table ... we have been clashing before my exit hand ... which runs as follows ... I start with c46BB ... 500/1000 (75) ... he bets 3000 ... I call on the button ... with QJo ... flop is KT9 with a flush draw ... he bets 5000 ... I re-raise to 17,500 ... he tanks before making the call ... turn is a K and he insta shoves ... flipping KJ ... c95BB in the middle ... chip lead ... err no ... river is the brutal T to fill him up ...

Of course the best remedy is to get back on the horse ...

... unless the horse is an evil beast ... selected a deepstack heads up ... looking like the trivial win when I get it all in with 98 into 982 ... vs the call of the century AKo ... K on the turn ... A on the river ... still 70% of starting stack ... and pretty deep ... so plenty of time to lose with a set to the rivered straight and then to ram 66 into TT ...

It"s all a sign that I should be working ... smile ... sigh ... smile ...

Next up the Genting online next Sunday ... enough time for my mind to delete this weekend"s poker ...
