Ask her why she gets so p*ssed off with the idea of you enjoying yourself.

I basically said the same thing without being this harsh

My problem with point 2 is that my better half can take it personally when I play poker.

"why are you playing poker when you could be playing with me?" is a standard question that is particularly difficult to field.

...

If I was involved with someone I wouldn"t be playing poker, you lot are clearly just not attentive enough to your other halves and should be ashamed of yourselves imo.

In reply to the OP, does she know Nottingham at all?

FWIW it"s known for being a really good place for shopping. This might help as long as you win enough to fund it. :D

ATEOTD

A good score in a tourney and a subsequent present or holiday paid from it will no doubt turn other halves round.

the fact last time i played and cashed huge i paid for a slap up meal

Was that with lashings of ice-cream? I always wondered what happened to Enid Blyton  ;).

Not trying to be cheeky but if a huge cash pays for a meal then I would maybe side with the dragon.

we have a rule in our house - I don"t moan about the constant bloody soap on our TV every night, and she says not a word about my laptop being out every night.  Best bit is, if I play the Sky Open, she always sits and watches with me on Sky865.

If I win live, I put 50% back into bankroll, and the other 50% into housekeeping.  My online play is now all about trying to make £15k before end of 2009 to take my kids to DisneyWorld before my daughter finally loses her sight..... hence the missus has no problem with my 5 hours per night addiction.

... our house rules are pretty similar ... it is amazing how much Living TV I have watched over the last year ...

The only things I veto are televised screaming matches (Wife Swap etc ...)

She controls the TV ... I play poker ... decent wins trigger dinners out ...

Last year paid legal fees on buying my house etc ... etc ...

... so I guess next "big" win would pay for a holiday.

Though at the moment trying to fund a trip to Vegas for the $1,000 NL event (May 30th start) - then likely meet Jeanie in New York or somewhere ...

Win and be generous ... I guess ....
