With a view to who will win in Cardiff, this is not a question that the strongest players want to answer. Spokespeople for APAT (the initials short for a phrase about poker or something) sat down with like people for a training session on covering the various bets. The parties are downplaying the differences between the various players. Kinfishy (OK no contest winner in 1886) AMRN recent winner (luckbox some say but I couldn't possible comment). HaworthBantam never making level 2, Duke staying sober, Sir percywhatsit trying to con the people with naff glasses, Technolog trying to blind people with orange hi viz jackets etc etc
The problems are the same, they say, however play will be similar. (I seem to find a whole lot more differences than they profess to) So different from on line, where, on stars at least, there is only one master, George stand up. However, every difference is as wide as a chasm. (Think about the debate between Chipaccrual & LukyBugur around AJ. The argument over who is right represents a significant philosophical difference, but when compared to the current system of live play, there are many similarities between the two problems. Can you imagine Lukybugur saying "there really are no major differences in our play, because we both have examined the same problem?")
One person is (mildly) claiming the mantle of change (versus experience). This reference is not lost on the APAT faithful, who have been carefully and critically watching the contest on the internet and the international news stations. But still.how will the APAT people chose? This is the challenge they face: how to help normal people make choices when the parties themselves seem reluctant to do so.
