If the regional events are registration on the day - that brings up a few questions:

  • Can you register over the phone?

  • Are alternates being accepted for these events?

  • What time on the "day" of play can you register (for example, can you register at 00:01 on the Saturday, or will it be from when the casino opens on that day - at noon or whenever)?

I am wondering the same thing about this too.

Is it basically first come first served??

I know at the Gala Edinburgh, they only have space for a total of 150 players but have been known to close registration short of that number due to the lack of dealers  :"( as they have to get dealers from other areas/casinos to cover the bigger tourneys.  if it is a registration on day option, the queue will be down princess street and thats a couple of miles away. :o

I"m not sure I like the idea of a mass queue...in fact not finishing this message am off to queue now......

Do we think that all the venues will be sold out?
With 9 x 80 places there's a good chance that some may not sell out but some could be sold three times over. It seems that the Manchester one keeps cropping up. Is it possible to put more tournaments on in the hot spots (Saturday / Sunday) and take them away from the cold spots? When or if some places don't sell.

Are or we willing to make a 3 hour drive for a £20 game?

It's a shame that you cannot buy your seat in advance. So if you could not get into your local game you can try further afield.

...

Depends how popular the venues are.

I"m sure the regulars at the venues will soon be interested in playing the APAt regional events even if they"ve never heard of APAt before.

Will there be an announcement on when the registration opens or will we have to contact the casinos directly? I take it that when the doors open you can register?

Hi everyone,

Much as I hate to say it, it is difficult to understand the likely demand at the 14 Regional venues until we have had one or two events.

Logistically, it is not feasible for APAT or the casinos to manage 14 player lists so this does put us in a first come, first served situation.  While I think we would all rather this was not the case, until APAT oll out "local" venues, it is a fact that some members will live closer to the Regional venues than others.

Each venue will have an entry spreadsheet, whereby players can enter their name in the order that they enter the tournament, meaning those turning up before the event will be able to register in advance.  We will post the opening times for each casino before the first Regional weekend.

  • How far in advance?

  • Will each casino be able to answer telephone enquiries with regard to how many seats may be left?

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

As stated elsewhere Alan, seats will be allocated on the day.  The list will ensure that players don"t show up right before play starts and "barge" their way into the events.  We will try to produce as much detail about the process as possible, prior to the first round of Regional events on October 6th.

That"s what I tought, however this -

kind of suggested (to me anyway) that it would be possible to enter prior to the day of the tournament.
