There were a handfull of people wearing caps/sunglasses (myself included) at Luton so I don"t think you need to worry about looking like a fish.

Each to their own.  Cowboy hats should be banned though.

Tell Doyle Brunson that.

Anyway hat"s are much more practical for disguising your tells when you want to hide your face, but seeing other peoples when you want to observe.

Sunglasses just leave you hidden, but hide the subtle tells other people can give off from you - it"s a bit more obvious that you"re observing people if you have to take your glasses off.

The main benefit I see from wearing shades is being able to watch people without them knowing.  People tend in general to be pretty good at "clamming up" and becoming a rock when you look at them and they know you"re looking.

The best tells I get are when the person is relaxed, or not aware that I"m watching them.  These are the tells that give me the most information.  It"s also less likely to be a false tell as well (if they"re not aware you"re watching, why would they be acting?).

I might actually try wearing shades in the future.  I can certainly see the reasons why many do.

But if you"re wearing shades, you"re vision is obstructed - by the shades - therefore you can"t see as much as you could if you weren"t wearing them.

Obvious things will still be obvious, but subtlety will be hidden from you

I will definitely be giving the shades a go. My experience at luton told me I should change my name to "Janet and John". If I raised with strength, I only took the blinds. When I was "at it", I was reraised just about every time. On reflection it may have been my hands (as in "on the end of wrists") that gave me away, So I may have the following routine now

1. look at cards
2. Put on sunnies
3. Put on wooly mitts
4. announce raise
5. er...... get dealer to put my chips in for me?

Don"t wear shades you can"t see properly through is probably the key there then.

Shades -- I am so myopic I can"t see the cards without prescription glasses and I am too tight to buy some tinted ones. Anyway my cards are always shiite and even if I get good ones I always look like a frightened rabbit so it makes no difference anyway.

If I do get a "read" it"s invariably wrong so I employ the opposite theory, If I think you are strong you are weak and vice versa.
