... talking of the absurd ... Leroy Soesman turned up today only to find out that he had registered for day 1A ... they are trying to establish if he has any chips left ...

Great ways to spend $10k.

Pab=Paul Foltyn

from wsop.com - updates...

Europe Represent
A couple new players have been discovered who are perhaps anonymous over here, but well-known on the other side of the pond. From England, Messrs Paul "Pab" Foltyn (38,000) and Adam Clark (26k) have been spotted. And Portuguese tournament director Joao Nunes is trying his luck on the other side of the felt today. He"s on 35,300 currently.

easy come easy go......

Ivey Raises, Loses
Phil Ivey has dipped to 63,000 after a run-in with the gent in the small blind on a    flop, Ivey on the button. Mr. Small Blind bet out 3,000, only for Ivey to make it 9,000, all this while a Wall Of Media closed in around the table and Ivey"s well-dressed railers craned to see. An undeterred Mr. Small Blind reraised to 23,000 -- and in a complete anticlimax, Ivey folded.

Check out the updates on PKR....some controversy in Day 1d.  As mentioned earlier Patrick Antonius was locked out along with about 800 other players who did not register in time! :o

Pollack is sorry for WSOP miscue

Monday, July 6, 2009 | Feedback | Print Entry

Posted by Andrew Feldman

6:10 p.m. ET: WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack held an impromptu news conference to explain to an extremely angry crowd why main event registration was closed earlier today. Despite speeches from the WSOP about never turning anyone away from the main event in the past few years, the WSOP did just that.

"We are sorry," Pollack said. "I am sorry. The last thing we wanted to do was deny entry to any players. Operationally, we are unable to accommodate any more people."

Pollack explains that it was the biggest challenge he faced in four years, but still the crowd was amazingly hostile. Mickey Appleman will miss his first main event in 30 years. Tom Franklin, Minh Ly, Melissa Hayden and Brandon Adams were also among the notables to be turned away. As to some earlier incorrect rumors, Patrik Antonius was apparently registered in the middle of the night and somehow Sully Erna found his way to a seat in the Miranda room.

... pretty crazy when there were 874 Runners on day 1B ...

Looking forward to the action today.

For those who made it to the bigger days feels like an advantage with more chips in play (and presumably more loose and desperate money to accumulate).

Go Josh Arieh FTW.

Updated at the end of the Day One"s

So, now begins the filling in the gaps competition.

Not all the busted players are reported on pokernews/wsop etc.

So if you know a player busted or didn"t even play, please post.  I thank you.

And good luck to Jeff.  Hopefully he will take this down and then have enough hardware to put up both those shelves in his house.  It"s a long way to travel for some brackets though.  Has no one ever told him about B&Q ?     ;D
