After a recnt pub poker session the usual cash game started up. Now most pub players I at with are pretty standard but this week the guy that runs the pub league had a load of his mates come this week to bolster numbers.
Now the guy that run it had worke in 2 different casinos as card room manger/tourney director and also semi plays online for a living (he claim to try to grind £50 a day for his play money/drinking money etc). His mates are all casino croupiers and also work in the local casino cardrooms as dealers so these guy are mostly well knowledged in how to play.
So cash game starts. 5 handed. 10p/20p (fun game) Dealers choice of Texas Holdem or PLO! After a few hands it"s obvious one guy doesn"t know how to play PLO but trying to learn but the 3 others at the table know how to play are admitadlly better than me.
So in my sb dealt
. It"s limped to me so I pot it £1 at me so another £1 to go. All fold except the novice who calls on the button
AQK rainbow. Know I don"t know where I am. Reckon novice has 2 pairs but feel a pot sized bet with my set of kings will win a showdown so £3 goes in. Novice calls. £9 pot roughly.
J turn that puts 2 hearts on the board. now I have 2 sets but it"s a bad card for me if opp had a piece of the board with a 10 in his hand then I"m not looking good but if he did have anykind of straight still have outs of possibly 3 aces, 3 queens 3 10,s (if novice had a 10 in his hand) case jack and case king. I have £15 left and decide to pot it in. Villan calls and I"m left with £6. River is a 10 but also a heart making a flush possible. I stick the last £6 in my straight as I feel
if I check I can"t fold for £6 to win a £35+ pot so I jam it in 1st and villan calls. I reckon he has rivered a flush but turns out he had A998 rainbow hand. So I scoop the lot at which point te 3 others said my plays were terrible (and the semi pro cardroom manaager claims he wouldve made the flush)
so we play it out again and they all agree the pot bet was right pre flop but on the flop leading out was wrong. O said I thought that I had to lead out to win the pot hopefully there without a showdown. They all said it was too risky if I got re raised then I"m forced to call. My arguemeby was that if I was re popped by the novice I can"t put him on AA as 2 were already put. Maybe j10 for the flopped syriaght but if that qasthe case then I still had around 10 outs for a full house or quads to win or the 10 for a straight.
Against more than one player id be a bit more passive but still try to isolate 1 of the others but against only 1 I"d bet my middle set all the way
Thoughts?
