I am very pleased to announce the APAT Team for the upcoming APAT UK Team Championships being held at the G Casino in Manchester in January 2010.
Leigh "Chipaccrual" WiltshireAs captain of the team, I"ll look to motivate and coach the troops to victory.
Des "APAT" DuffyMr APAT himself has decided to come out of poker retirement to take on the best that the UK has to offer in a team poker format. Obviously, we hope that his position within APAT will give him an "edge" at the table and I am convinced he will be one of our strongest performers.
Richard "TightEnd" PrewTighty has a 100% record at APAT Final Tables at this should put him in a very strong position at the event. If he is able to transfer his buffet queue skills into the poker world, then there will be no stopping him. There have been rumours about the amount of time he has been spending with SkyPoker and how that will impact his game, but he knows right from wrong and there will be no distractions here (Unless there is entertainment on stage on the Saturday night).
Well, the teams looking very strong so far. Both Des and Rich are well up for the challenge, all I need to do now is convince my other picks and we are onto a winner. Obviously, if I can"t get all of them to agree, then I will have to start from scratch and put another team togeher. It"s so important to get the right blend of skills and playing abilities in a team for an event like this.
So, here"s the rest of my picks.Lord LucanLord Lucan, or "The Luc" as he is known within the team is an avid card player and will bring years of highrolling experience to the team. He"s not actually got back me via any of my emails or pm"s yet. Does anyone know if he has a Skype account ?
Teddy KGB
An allround good heads-up player with an aggresssive table presence. There is one major flaw in this selection and that is if Bainn starts talking to him about biscuits. However, Teddy knows some influential people, so this could be one biscuit discussion where Bainn bites off more than he can chew.
Elvis "The King" PresleyA regular on the Vegas circuit, has let himself go in recent times, but It"s Now or Never for this poker giant. I have sent him an invite in the post, but I just get it return to sender. Not sure what else I can do, I"m all shook up with the thought that he might not play. Perhaps a little less conversation from me is the way forward, but I know the rest of the team have suspicious minds about this selection. Here"s hoping.
ShergarQuite simply, never seen anyone run as good. Usain Bolt comes close, but not as intimidating at the table. Let"s saddle up and deal.
Ernest "Ernie" Scherer IIIHaven"t seen much of Ernie on the poker circuit since his final table appearance in a WSOP event in 2006, but I think he would be a perfect addition to the team.
Well, on behalf of Des and Tighty, here"s hoping I can secure these other picks and we can all get together for a beer in the bar before the big event. Just in case you thought this was all made up and not serious, I can confirm it is genuine as Des will be buying the team the beers. What more proof could you need ?
