Well I managed 1st in Plymouth out of probably the smallest field in the regionals -16.
Along the way I had to fold aces. I raised 3x BB and had 3 callers. The flop was

and a 9something. I bet 3xBB and was raised and then the second player re-raised all in. the 3rd player agonised for a while then folded. I don"t think I have ever folded AA in 4 years of playing poker, but I managed to do it and stayed in the tounament.
My stack went as low as 1300 when my 72o in the BB flopped 2 pair and was against a pair of Aces, which turned into trips on the turn, but from that point on I never lost a hand. My major piece of luck came when my pair of jacks faced trip

and I rivered a 10 for a straight.
The rest of the tournament was PP vs Ax races, and when I had pairs they held up, with TT turning into Quads, and when I had Ax my "x" either hit or gave me a higher kicker. I only had one bluff re-raised.
When I got to heads up, I knew Si was a far better player than me and had 3-4k more chips than me. After a few hands I looked down at TT and raised 3200, Si took a long time and I guessed he was looking at Ax, but that the "x" was quite low.
Eventually he raised all in, and I called. Si has A7o and I hit a 10 on the turn, and left Si with about 1800. My next hand was AKo against Si"s Qx, I hit a straight on the river with another 10, which is now officially my favourite card!
See you in Walsall.
