A little known fact about Brian is that he is also a member of the Black Country Poker Club.  If you don"t believe me, ask him about it.   ;)

Never heard of that poker club, I suspect it"s a club for the quiet, retiring, shy types......  :D

Just want to add my personal note of thanks to
everybody involved in the organisation of the past
weekend in Luton. An excellent effort from all. ;D
Too numerous to mention by name as I"m guaranteed to
leave someone out!
My first, and hopefully not last, live apat event and a most
enjoyable experience.
CONGRATULATIONS to all FTers/luckboxes/etc who cashed and
commiserations to all those who took the bad beats, & there were plenty, ::)
I"m sure it will be your turn next time!
WOOP WOOP to the top 3........spend that cash wisely ;D
The harder I work,
The luckier I get.

What a great weekend!

Luton was my second live APAT event and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I arrived on Friday evening and stayed and watched the heads up battle between Brian Yates and Arek Sinkiewicz, which Brian graciously gave to the Polish to allow the play off.

Well played Poland!

I returned next day and met up with a few of you guys and no-one and I mean not one person takes themselves too seriously which is such a refreshing trait nowadays.
As I am fairly new to the APAT I was  amazed at the quality of poker being played or perhaps it was my lack of it but still I'll settle for luck boxing all day long.. If it's good enough for James Barber it'll do for me ..

Leigh Wiltshire is a legend ..........He did tell me to say that!   Busy updating but still time to talk to me about anything and everything and what possibilities the new season will bring........ and then the hand that could have changed everything..Hard lines Leigh!

The updating by Richard, Leigh and photography by Des was magnificent, the highlight of my weekend was the instant weight loss programme, after exiting in 13th place a wonderful picture of Marc Jelfs was put up alongside my name. Apologies Marc

There were some funny moments along the way, usually coming from John Murray and Matt McKinlay..Top blokes, I am sure also that John Murray has at some point worked for military intelligence. I have never had to answer so many questions.  ;D  :"(

Thanks to James Barber for bokking railing me and thanks to Darren, Jamie and their mate for showing me how not to play black jack.

A big plus was the card room manager Niall and his staff, well done to them, they helped make it happen.

Well done to all final tableists and obviously Stuart for his win, congratulations to Steve Redfern for the rankings

I hope you all had a great weekend, I know I did and I hope it wont be the last

Thank you APAT

Well done to Stuart for the win, and to everyone else who cashed.

Another great APAT event and can"t wait for the next one. Excellent organisation all round as always - perhaps you could have a word with Redtooth and let them know how a tournament should be organised, although they do a good game of bingo if anyone"s into that!

Big congratulations to fellow BCPC members :

Brian, for winning the Omaha. Another good result to top off a great year.
Matt, for reaching the final table, and for his choice of t-shirt on Day One.  ;D
Steve, for topping the overall rankings, thoroughly deserved.

and Andy, for winning the last longer ..... git.  ;)

Looking forward now to the team event in January and a win for the BCPC!

Oh, and finally, thanks to Laxie for keeping us entertained on the first table and for teaching me the power of the Montana Banana.  9c :3d:   ;D

Yeah, we"ll be at the team championship. We"ll be the ones in the corner sipping tea and discussing the works of Shakespeare.  :)

Well done Stuart, a fantastic win. Loved that call! I might have played my tiny part in your tournament good start ;) and I"m really happy you took this one down.

Well played John, another deep run, enjoyed playing at your table too. And special mention to Gyorgy Kiss from the Hungarian team, you certainly marked the spirits there!

It"s been 4 days of intense poker, great European festival, well done Apat and thanks to Niall and his team.

Going into this event as defending Champions and finishing at the opposite end of the table was a bitter pill, disappointing as that was, I"m sure I speak for the whole Irish team in congratulating APAT legends Des, Richard, and Leigh, for another superb offering.

The entire staff at G Casino Luton are without question the friendliest most welcoming team I"ve ever come across anytime anywhere. It was so obvious the level of dedication to our every need was expertly influenced and led by Niall, Carmel and Nina, as customer care goes, you guys really are the nuts.

As is par for the course, there were lots of entertaining episodes, too many to mention but highlights for me were......

  • The Neil Blatchley show, couldn"t imagine I"d ever rail a cash game for two hours but it was so worth it. Thank you Blatch you"re a funny funny guy, though your blatant disregard for money is scarey

  • The inspired German substitution when heads up v Brian Yates. Well done Stefan astutely aware as always, well done Silke for taking the extra point under severe pressure and well done Brian for displaying superb sportsmanship in very trying circumstances. Thank you all for the superb atmosphere you created and giving life to Des" stategy ideas and making his day.

  • The hilarious and frequent announcements from Niall. ie; "Would the person who left their belt in the mensroom, please go to the poker desk". Or, "tonights tourney will be played at tables marked 1-6, table 1 will become table 2, table 2 will become table 3, table 3 will become table 4", etc. Priceless stuff.

Commiserations to a valiant French team, who completely within the rules of the game, ::) :P came within a race or two of taking the title. Finally, the standard of play at these events just gets better and better, evidence if needed that APAT continue to provide the environment for its players to hone and develope their poker skills. So a sincere congrats to, Team champs Poland, European Amateur champion Stuart Ward, and Omaha winner Brian Yates.

Good luck Dewi, Scouse and all others that have qualified for the Champion of Champions.

Paul

I seem to have  a few names now, but I"m happy with Alan (or Lucky) !

I thought we had a great starting table Paul. Some good play, some "interesting" play and a lot of fun too, with some good characters !

I enjoyed your company and was sorry to see you go (though pleased with the chips obviously!).

I"m sure I"ll see you again at another event.
