Do we call this river?

Another river decision. Opinions would be welcome as to what others would do in this spot. Would you call? He has stats of 30/25 over only 40 or so hands. Not shown down any big bluffs. Mostly straightforward raises and cbets to take it down

calling the river as played but dont think id have got that far

40 hands isnt a big enough sample to take stats from imo

i"d have possibly re raised pre - maybe $5

on flop id call the standard c bet

id check turn behind to keep pot from spiralling out of control

going by your hand history you only habve $24 ish left and pot is $20 by the river - gotta call and if he has a set or 2 pair then so be it

the big shove isnt wanting called imo, but then it could be a move with a strong hand if he has only top pair beat and he put you on AK then its a good move

30/25 is soooo laggy in f/r.  Def 3b pre in position!!

As played - dnt even think the river is close.  I highly doubt we are ahead of his river shoving range.  I would also bet a little bigger on the turn.  We are betting as a semi-bluff, but the purpose of the bet is really to win the pot right there.

 You need at least 1000 hands on someone before you can really get a feel for how they are playing imo. You only have about 60-70 bbs, i would of repoped pre and try to get it in if possible pre with AKs, or on flop with whatever comes down. Any way, as you played it, with the A on river Dont slow roll the other guy its bad Karma.

As an added point - dnt short stack.  All u achieve is losing value.  Auto top-up ftw.

The reason i dont play on stars is because there are no doubble stack cash tables. Even 100bbs is not enough to play poker well, hell even 200BBs is still way too shallow to make big tripple barrel bluffs.

I see you only have $36.40 in your stack, assuming you play a standard reasonably tight aggressive patient game, it makes sense to always have a full stack so as to maximise you"re potential winnings when you choose to play a hand.

On to the hand. This is a great spot to 3 bet, you have position, a tonne of value against a 30/25 range, and they hardly ever fold. AK plays better heads up and you don"t want to give the blinds a good price with speculative hands.

As played,

Flop
Calling the flop bet is dependant on his flop and turn cbet tendancies. Does he cbet flop <50%, does he cbet flop 100% and give up on the turn or does he keep firing.

Turn
Again, dependant as above but, you have outs and some showdown value, also , any hands that fold to a bet, you are most likely beating and they usually have only 6 outs to beat you. Check is probably best but it is always tempting to pounce on percepted weakness in this spot. The $5 bet into $11.55 pot looks so so weak.

River
Barring an outstandingly strong read or some history, this is hardly ever a bluff and usually the nuts. Snap fold.

oops, while I was writing this novel the young guns ( no pun intended ) were being short and sweet and to the point as usual.

forgot to mention, I snap called (steaming abit) with my AK and he showed A9 for 2 pair. Maybe a bigger turn bet may have got a fold. The ace was obv worst card in deck for me

3bet pre, check turn and river is an easy muck imo, it would be a ridiculous bluff to make by villian on that river card
