If i"m calling the turn then I"m calling the river. And I am calling both. I"m a fish though so who knows.

What did he have? Two pair, J8 or Q8?

I wish I knew. I folded the river so I"ll never know. It was a crying fold but I felt I had to be beat here. What do others think?

If you"re calling the turn though, what changes on the river?

I"d have raised more pre. I"m with Chris though and would call both turn and river, even though it is possibly a mistake.

His min donk lead/call raise then c/r on turn line seems weird so he"s polarized here. I should fold, make a note and watch this guy play a few more orbits. Probably fold turn as well.

But its cash and I have to know....call.

But thats why I dont play cash, I"d fold this in a tourney.

I called turn to consider calling based on size of bet. I didn"t like his near pot bet here

Raise more pre. He can call $0.75 raise with anything to bust your big pair. Unlikely to be winning now.

The only reason I raised 2.5x was to keep things in line with my prev 2-3 raises (which were seen by villain, but who knows if he noticed) with small pairs/suited connectors etc. Hoping someone might have repopped me

I"m too curious to know which is why i"d call (see: "Station"). You are probably losing to two pair imo but the two pair was made on the flop or the turn. Don"t think you"re up against a set because he would"ve played it harder on that flop. The pot sized bet could be a value bet but he could also be trying to buy the pot. I"d play it differently in a tournament like has been said but in a cash game I can re-load so I play like a fish. I"d maybe even 3-bet on the turn. Get more info than you do from his river jam I think.

Really bad raise pre (too small), with the way the hand is played post flop he is probably sending you to value town knowing that you have AA or KK. i would not be surprised to see either flopped straight/ set or 2 pair.

This is just a typical cash game hand that happens all the time, T the end of the day you only have 1 pair and if you check behind on turn, like you should of done IMO then you can just call his river bet and either pick off a semi bluff of a pair and draw combo or loose a smaller pot for information if he did have you beat (which is very likely)

I agree a check behind on the turn would"ve been good. My only concern was the board got even drawyier with Jh popping up. I needed to charge a draw to play till the river. Obv hated being 3bet on the turn, but had to call to look at his action on the river. If he"d bet smaller I would maybe have called.
My thinking on the turn was I needed to bet to charge him, if he gets to the river cheaply and doesn"t hit, I won"t win anymore from him, so wanted more in on the turn. Although thinking about it, on a dangerous board my aim should"ve been to lose the minimum so should"ve checked behind

Isnt the 2.5 x raise more of a tournament raise than a cash raise?

forgot to mention, I snap called (steaming abit) with my AK and he showed A9 for 2 pair. Maybe a bigger turn bet may have got a fold. The ace was obv worst card in deck for me
