Betfair Poker - General Discussion

Ok, having played some games, here are what I see as shortcomings on the BetFair poker client...

- Blinds structure - When in a game, cannot for the life of me find a blind structure for that game.  When playing in a game, we see a countdown clock for the game we are in, but have no idea what the next level is, or, if the end of this level is a break.

- The folded cards - When you fold, sometimes (cant me more than 25% of the time) you cards shrink smaller and stay above your name, but mostly they do not.

- A friend of mine tells me she cannot see a button at the top left for "Last Hand".

- Tournamen list from the main lobby - Sort by name and you expect that all the games whose description starts with APAT xxxxxxxx, come together...  They just dont... makes it dificult finding the games we want...  Also, similarly, sort by numbers of players registered in games, sorts it say from 0 thru to whatever high number...  but if you scroll down past say 250, there are more zeros thru to 250, and then further down, some more...  sorting is all wrong and makes it hard...

- The wierdest thing I see about the software is looking at the game lobby you are playing in your table goes to the background, and you can hear it playing, but you are reading the lobby.  It is a very wierd way of playing as you suddenly realise you are missing hands.  It is possible to get a different window by opening 2 windows, or maybe viewing a player at another table and then switching to lobby view, but it all seems wrong.  Why doesnt it just have one window for the lobby and one for the game table as standard.

- Outstanding Balances - I click the button left of the main lobby " My Account "...  I go to a web page, and have to login, and get a whole list of pages.  1st page "Account Summary"...  Never works for me, always fails, so I go onto one of the other pages and then go back to the Account Summary, and it works, but, quite often it tells me I have zero available to bet, I know this is wrong, I go to "Account Statement" I see I have plenty of funds, so I go back to the summary and it tells me same number I just saw in the statement.  Also, when we register for a tournament, why cant it tell us there that we have say £50 total, and we are spending £10, so new balance = £40... The software MUST have gone away to check the balances anyway to make sure we have the funds, so why cant it display that?

- Friends - I have added a friend in the "Find Players" section... I can see that he is playing in a particular tournament..  I would like to go and see how he is doing, I would like to go right to his game as it is listed on the screen in front of me, how hard is that to figure out, I expected to double click the game, but after trying lost of things, found a teeny little icon to the left of the game, and it took me there, but, as similar to table lobby, took me to the game, but, its put the game in my game window and its a trip and a half to get back to having one window with friends game and one window with my game.

- While viewing friends, the "Last Game" button not visible.  Not a necessary item, but dont understand why not visible to observers.

- Betfair Poker Buddy -  I see this link inside the page for preferences -  I click it and get a HTML page opened.  shows me the betfair top and left menu but in the main window - Page Not Found (404).  It is supposed to show me the hand history on there.

- Are betfair gonna do a sportbook on the regged players at the APAT events?

If I think of any will add a new post, :-)

www.rooms-direct.co.uk if you want some discount email me and tell me you are from APAT.

- A friend of mine tells me she cannot see a button at the top left for "Last Hand".

Click Preferences and under Hand History ensure "Save hand history" is checked.  When at a table the Last Hand button will be there.

Okay played a couple of the sats and seem to be having similar problems with the software that it keeps freezing up my laptop. I normally play on other sites with no trouble and whilst playing the sites i had very few tables open. Betfair seems to be making my pc work its arse off from the sounds coming from it tbh. Doubt there is very little you can do about this Dave but thought I would bring up the issue. Will see how we it goes this weekend but don"t think I fancy playing on somewhere if this is going to be a regular occurence.

Another thing which again I am sure you will probably tell me is my pc etc but here goes anyway: I first started playing on betfair a few years ago but one of the reasons I left was that i seemed to get Virus alerts regularly when I was playing on the site. I have had no trouble since but subsequently got my email account hacked a few days ago. May be coincidence I know but would be interested in your view.

p.s. apologies to anyone who received the Viagra emails  :P

A last question Dave: Has Joe Legge explained the Fiery Dragon to you yet?

I have to say that I was really surprised to find that the look and feel of the software, along with how the tables and game lobbies work, had not changed at all in the 2 years since I last logged on. It"s just so clunky. It was a jaw dropping moment to still be asked the "older computers"/"most computers" question. Most other poker sites have changed out of all recognition just in the last year never mind 2 years. Also agree that it uses a lot of pc resource, much more so than other sites.
I was also surprised to find $70 in the account - I must have been really peed off to leave that there!

I would like to see Betfair listen and make changes to their site whilst they have a semi captive audience in the APAT community. There"s a lot of us and that could be very valuable resource for what works and what doesn"t. Given that Betfair is proprietary software they must have much more control over getting it changed than the skins. Fingers crossed.

I was going to deposit to play Saturdays tourney but,
Just tried to log in and it says my account has been suspended. I checked my emails and it says its suspended because they cant verify my age, (I hav"nt been asked for id since I was 14, Im 40 lol).
Email says I can,
1- log in and verify age in "my account", (but I cant log in cause its suspended),
2- you can deposit by credit card as you have to be 18 to do this, (I had already done this as I played the 10pound sattelite)
3- send a copy of my driving licence or passport, (I wont be doing this under any circumstance).

seems Im drawing dead, wp betfair.

Okay played a bit of cash and one tourney on Betfair, been away a lot! Any way these are my first thoughts and observations -

Why can"t I get the site to fill my screen, it goes across the middle filling two thirds of the screen?

Why when I fold sometimes it keeps my cards on show, and some times they disappear?

Why is hand history so difficult to access?

Why is there no structure info on the tourneys and SNGs?

The Lobby is very jumbled

The actual playing table is very dull and lifeless, I actually found myself playing on BSQ last night again, as I prefer the look and feel of the site.

Aces don"t win when AIPF!! :"(

That it for now I am sure there will be more, cheers.

When it was the click fest the other night i was not able to access the internet, so i left my password with a friend back home and he tried to enter me in, but for some reason it said not enough funds in my account, so he couldnt buy me in. Ive just looked now and i had the £75 all along, has this happenend to anyone else?

Another weird problem is that i cant deposit more funds in now, it says "navagation to webpage canceled, retry web address" Has this happenend to anyone else here?

The buy-in was $120 (not £75) as Betfair work in that currency. It"s possible the actual amount to be paid was $77-$80 depending on the conversion rate and if you missed it by a few cents it would say that you don"t have enough funds.

On the access issue, go to the page and if you get the same problem, press Ctrl & F5 at the same time to clear your browsers cache. Other than that, ring Betfair support...I hear they are pretty good.

Finally, you really shouldn"t be giving out passwords no matter how much you trust someone...[/shudder]

oh , ok thanks, this clears up the funds issue.

BTW ive just looked this up. £75 is only $114. And to get to $120 we have to pump in £79. So where does the extra £4 from each player go. The people who cash in the live events will have paid $120 online, but will be getting money back in £££s. 100 players = £400 pound in exchange rates going somewhere.

just wondered what you all thought of the betfair poker software given were going to be using it for the forseeable future

is there any way to view hand historys is my first question

i know anything different takes a bit of getting used to but it seems a bit strange also not particularly happy about the 15% weekly decay of any points you accrue

+1 on the 15% decay. Far from encouraging me to play on Betfair, it does the opposite. The points I"ve earned should be mine to keep.

Let"s hope they don"t start a monthly decay of our bankrolls...it"s already hard enough to hang on to  :(

Pretty sure Des/Tighty/Leigh have already said that ALL monies goes towards the prize pool.

the points that you earn from playing poker are to help people have a reduction in the % commission betfair take from customers who use the exchange betting.. if you dont bet then it makes no difference to anybody.
