Regional's
« on: October 23, 2007, 18:19:31 PM »
Hi all,

Just a few questions regarding the Regional"s.

I have been reading past threads regarding the potential problems with venues filling to capacity etc and was just wondering what feedback people had.

I plan to go to the one at Manchester on 10th November and was curious as to what time the casino opened last month, when people bought in, the demand for places etc etc.

Just so I can get a bit of a heads-up (no pun intended) on what to expect.

Much appreciated.

You could check the "Regional Feedback Board" - http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?board=17.0 - for feedback on all leg 1 regional events.  :P
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

Please could you give us Yorkshire folk a go next year?  I live in Hull and the nearest regionals is in Manchester, opposite end of the country :(  Would have thought a regional in Sheffield/Leeds would be in order.  I"m contemplating Manchester on the 10th Nov but it"s a long way to travel and i"m not even sure i"ll get a seat in the game :/

Personally, I don"t think we"ve got it so bad. Spare a thought for those players in Scotland.

As this is the first year of Regionals, I"m sure we"ll learn a lot over the next 8 months or so. Once we have a better picture of demand for seats, location popularity, etc, changes may happen, but I don"t believe there will be an increase in the number of casinos used, at least not in season two.

We are requesting feedback after the events, so anything you want to report back on (positive or negative) will always be fed back into the Regional Managers meetings.

Hopefully, we"ll see you in Manchester.

yup, understandable, but it still leaves me with a quandry.  Do i drive for over 2 hours to get to Manchester, get there bang on time, and still lose out as there are another 200 players there "bang on time" too.  I know it"s not easy to solve.  I guess i"m just trying to get some "pot odds" of being able to play before i "call" and make the drive.
Was there mention about being able to register for regionals before the event?  Any news on that?

It has been mentioned, but I"m afraid there"s no news as yet.

All I can suggest, for the time being, is to keep your eyes on the forum. If there are any developments over the coming weeks they"ll be posted here first.

Sorry I can"t be of any more help at the moment.

I played the English qualifier at Manchester and turned up in time for the casino to open at 12 noon.  There was only a hand full of people there.  Once in the casino registration for the event was immeadiate.  I got in 10th.  I understand you don"t want to travel for over 2 hours not to get a seat but if you get there before casino opening you would be unlucky not to get a seat.  Oh and this time the event didn"t sell out.  I think 67ish players in the end.

Obviously next time there could be more players but would be suprised not to get a seat if you are there before the casino opens.
