Last night's satellite: Misplayed hand on the bubble?
« on: March 17, 2010, 12:38:24 PM »
After exiting last night"s satellite on the bubble, I would like to get some opinions on whether my final hand was misplayed or was in fact pretty standard. Sorry, haven"t got proper hand history as I am at work atm.  Ok, so we"re 7 handed and the blinds are 600/1200 +100ante. Short stack has 10k, me and 2 others are around 17k and there are 3 larger stacks. Action folds round to chip leader on button who raises to 2800, I"m on SB with  ah js and decided as i"m ahead of button"s opening range and BB also on 14bb"s with 17k, it was a good spot to re-shove. Turns out the BB wakes up with  ad kc and cold calls my shove. I think my play was standard in a regular tourney where you are trying to win the thing, but not so sure in a satellite. ???

Of cause not, but not sure if I would have open shoved 14bb"s though. Prob would have raised to around 3k and folded to a shove from BB. ?

Lucky shortstack to have suicidal players still in on a bubble where all prizes are equal.

fold>>>>shove>raise>call

Surely with someone on 10k, and you with 17k, this is an auto-fold in a satellite at bubble time???

And having just gone thru the blinds, I concur!

Well, 6th place was the real bubble i guess as there were 5 seats and 6th got $10. So with 2 other 17k stacks on the table I saw this as an opportunity to sneak out of the danger zone as to speak.

I got the stack sizes slightly wrong. Here is the hand:

Remember only 5 seats guys!

Absolutely clear fold in a satellite near a bubble

The button is chip leader, you want to be attacking similar stacks to yours/shortstacks not putting yourself at risk against him

The reshove from the sb v button is fine in a normal comp with laddered payout structure but in a 100%/0% prize scenario near the seats, it goes in the bin
