Many congratulations to John Murray. I told you in Swansea to stick with it, and it would happen. You"re too good a player not to win one. Really pleased for you.
Another great event as always. Its always good to catch up and have a chat with so many people. Had lots of fun at the tables as well. Anuerin talking his opponents into doing what he wanted them to do was so funny. Thought Alan Lake was going to win this, as he was bullying the tables relentlessly Day 2. We have a different philosophy on Poker. I"m trying to find a way to fold, and he is trying to find a way to call! Good fun.
For my own tournament, i just need to win the coinflips. Ended up racing 5 times, which is a lot for me, and only won 2.
Stated Day 2 with an average stack of 71K, but found myself down to 38K pretty quickly. 20 mins later, and a couple of double ups with qs qh vs ah jh and ks qs on a kd jd
board vs
and im sitting with 250K and near chip leader, when the following hand happens.
Folds round to myself in the SB and i have
I have Perry (Harry Potter) in the BB with about 110K. Blinds are i think 3/6K and i make it approx 25K. Perry now pushes all in for 110K. He has been playing a wide range of hands, so i"m pretty sure that im going to be racing here. If i call and lose the pot, i"ll be back down to 135K which will be about average with 13 left. If i call and win, then i have 375K and a great chance to go really deep on the FT. If i fold, then it sends out the wrong signals and looks weak. I decide to take my shot. He flips
th and hits a full house.
well.
My exit hand in 8th may look a bit odd but here are my thoughts. Its early in the FT, and we have lost 1 player. I have about 130K, blinds are 5/10K. There are 3 big stacks on the table. John, Alan and Perry. Prize money is flat from 8th to 4th (£600), and rises to £1200 at 3rd. Alan raises up from MP to 30K, and it folds to me in the BB. I have
. I put Alan on a wide range of hands here (you only had to have been sitting at one of his tables over the weekend to see). He has made some big calls earlier with marginal hands, but i think if i shove here, it makes it a tough decision for him, and i can improve my chip count by 25%. If he does call, then 86s doesnt play too badly against 2 overs(unless he has a pair, which i dont put him on). I decide to shove, and after a dwell he does decide to call, showing A 10. Alans hand holds up, and im out. I dont have to make that play there, but i"m trying to win the tournament, and thought it was a good time to make a move.
Due to work, i"m unable to make it to Austria, but should be ok for Aberdeen. Hope to see you all there.
