To lead out or not to lead out, that is the question?
« on: May 25, 2010, 20:35:22 PM »
Live tourney. 5k starting stack and I"m up to 7k in level 2. 50/100 blinds.

On button with 58s (hearts). 4 limpers (8handed) and I call. Sb completes and BB checks. Pot is 700.

246 flop with 2 and 6 hearts. I"ve got a double gutter for straight and flush draw. Checked to me and I bet 400. (?)

BB thinks and with 2k in his stack he flats.  Pot is 1500

Turn is Q hearts. BB checks and I bet 900 into 1500 pot. BB has approx 1.6k left and shoves. I call with my flush and he has 2pair. Fours and queens with no hearts. River is 7  (wouldve gave a straight too) and the player berated me for leading into the flop. Asking me how could I bet into 5 others with only draws!

I didn"t answer him but thought my play was right and I thought me bet sizing was "fairly standard" and had he shoved on the flop I was happy to call with my 15 outs

Right or wrong way to play?

I like the "ssshhhh I"m counting your chips" response.

absolutely spot on lead out, and at a value that is really inviting for someone to raise. You wanna be getting your stack all in on this flop - lead out and hope for a raise.

agree that your play was shocking and that you promise to never do it again and thank him for the advice

OR

give him an edge and explain why leading is the superior play here

Definitely leading the flop but I think a smaller bet on the turn increases your chances of getting his whole stack in by the end.

He liked his own call on the flop @ 11/4 pot odds to his three outer 2pr or 2 outer for trips. 2 of which makes a flush? Giving him 1/8(being very generous) to win the pot, without any more betting on further streets.
Damn right he should berate you. You should"ve got on your knees, kissed his cards and shout,"I am not worthy" in 14 different languages.

Or you could just ignore him, and beat the fogg out of him next time you play again :D :o

He flat calls for 20% of his stack with middle pair, and then criticizes your play?

He check-raises you all-in and MOANS when you call ??

He has to think that you can"t call without a flush but if you have got one then he is drawing to 4 outs.

By check-raising you he thinks he is being clever and obviously can"t take it when HE is shown to be the fool.

NH, WP, GG.....oh......and bye,bye.

Oh.....and of course you did right in leading out :)
