Good afternoon and welcome back to Aberdeen!
We"re all well rested and raring to go.
For some unknown reason I woke from my slumbers at 7am. I was quickly up, into the hotel Gym and then the Swimming Pool (**) before breakfasting heartily (***). By 10am I had completed a tour of Pittordrie, Aberdeen FC"s ground taking 187 photos including, in what will be a new section in my stadia ringbinder, 1937 turnstiles manufactured in Hungary.
After that I went for a perambulation across the harbour in which they are currently three vessels. Two are from Norway, and one is from Latvia. I was just perusing the scene when a young Mum and her son, perhaps six years old, stood nearby.
All was quiet except for the sound of squawking gulls (do gulls squawk?) and the wind whistling through the small gaps between the boats.
Then the little voice piped up
"Mum" he said, pointing at me, "is that man a fisherman?"
The Mum looked at me, suppressed a giggle and replied
"I don"t think so Alex"
"Oh" said the young lad "Just checking, I knew he could be because he doesn"t have a beard and a white hat"
And with that, they walked off.
Sometimes I just realise that in my life there is no need for hallucinogenic drugs, really there isn"t
Anyway from there I returned to the hotel, avoided an Ironside phone call twice but not on the third occasion, had some lunch and ambled down to the casio where the staff are currently setting up and we"ll be live on the TV feed and the update from 3pm. I"m the one who Whispers.
Back soon.
