Has anyone got an explanation as to why JokerStars expect us to win into the £500 Edinburgh UKIPT by winning a satellite for a £1800 package? (there is no mix-up due to US dollar conversion, it"s all in £)

I only just checked after playing a £5 rebuy sat into £100 final qualifier on Friday 25th, expecting to be playing a tourny for £1000 at the very max. (this alone would give us a massive £450 for expenses).

Out of the £1800 they are giving only £300 back to the player for costs etc (but I can"t imagine they"d be taking £950 out of the poker economy for a hotel room, that"d be a criminal waste, I"d be sick to have to pay over £300 a day for a hotel room, of which I wonder how much JokerStars recieves back in commission!?)

If this is actually the case then JokerStars are robbing the poker community of £ that would in many cases be more wisely spent by poker plyers themselves and would bitterly disappoint me. (Some may have relatives they can stay with there, some will not even make day2, some will only stay 1 night)

If there"s something else in the £950 excess I"d like to know, anyone any answers?

Looks like qualifiers will be staying in The Balmoral Hotel. http://www.ukipthotels.com/city.asp?id=2&idc=45&edinburgh
Nothing you can do. You know what the prize is before you register for the tournament. If someone doesn"t want/need accommodation, they shouldn"t play for a package. They should play one of the seat only satellites instead.

Sorry, but I am well-known for getting value for money or as others have said "tight"  :) but I"m one for keeping poker money within the poker economy and paying £950 for a hotel for a £500 event makes absolutely no sense to me  ???

I have unreg"d and taken the tournament dollars, but can only see £8 sats to main event! WEIRD!!

Hopefully there"ll be more realistic satellites nearer the time (although people tend not to like to have to make last minute arrangements)

Its actually a £1K seat in Edinburgh, John.

Having said that, the money for the hotel (£450) is far too excessive, given that there is the possibility that you may only need one night. The hotel in coventry was awful and my room was not even ready when I turned up, even though it had been "paid for" for the first 2 nights.

I"m only going for seat only packages from stars from now on.

I"m surprised you were allowed to unreg from this and take T$. I wasn"t aware you could do this for live event packages.. I"d have insta-unregged if I"d have known.

I too am only gonna play seat only sats

As I"m born n bred in Edinburgh I can easily say that getting s hotel room in august will be extremely difficult during august because of the Edinburgh fringe festival and military tattoo

Also having worked in the hotel industry many moon ago, the average hotel and b&b price goes up by 30-50% to fleece visitors and tourists, that is why the balmoral is a £300 a night hotel instead of it"s usual £200

Pokerstars have made a real balls up. Leaving to 5 or 6 weeks prior to announce it people will have major difficulty booking accomodation.

Also a taxi to corn exchange is in the £10-£11 region each wayans not serviced well by bus services in that area.

I didn"t win the package Rob, just through to the £108.50 sat but that was for the £1800 package. So I withdrew the £108.50 in T$
