2010-07-28  GOODWOOD
2:10 - Ambrose Princess ew
2:45 - Crown Prosecutor
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/0,27770,379341,00.html
nice turn of pace over 6f so the extra furlong is no problem , King Torus has his work cut out with this fellow , he looks smart. Harry Findlay"s horse is running in the Sangster colours whilst he serves out his ban but no doubt he"ll have a few quid on to win :) lol ...
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/0,27770,373482,00.html
nice 1st time out run at Goodwood , Sonning Rose went onto win next time easily then with a fine 2nd in the chesham stakes with King Torus back in 4th so Meehan has a line of form to go by and CP showed definite improvement next time out...
3.25 - Beethoven ew - i"ll take a punt with this one Leigh , he won the Dewhurst nicely , 1st time out as a 3yo he only finished 4 lengths behind Canford Cliffs so he can only improve lol , Aidan o B won the Sussex Stakes with the Rock of Gibralter after he had won the Dewhurst , if Ryan Moore was aboard woohoo , has his son riding Beethoven with O"Donoghue on the pace horse?? worth a tickle just in case , although Aidan o B isn"t known for big price winners at Goodwood theres always a 1st time ;D
http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/0,27770,335464,00.html
out of stall 3 alongside Steinbeck till 3 out gets squeezed , drops in till 2 out and then Moore switches out and finds a bit of horse under him lol...
4.00 - Verdant
4.35 - Echo Ridge [another Beckett 2yo hot pot? bred from the family of Lochsong, i luvvved that filly back in the good old days when Ian Balding trained]
5.10 - Agony And Ecstasy
5:45 - Manassas

glgl Leigh with your punting.........

edit - Echo Ridge has been pulled out of the 4.35 so i"ve backed Qenaa at 8"s

It very much is punting.  I like to think I have a bit of skill with it, but the reality is probably very different.

I"ve been going to Glorious week for about 6 years, and have made a profit each year.  I pick one horse to win per race, and it"s become a bit of a challenge to keep the lucky steak going.

It"s the only race meeting that I really spend time going through form and stats.

2009 - 15.37%
2008 - 28.89%
2007 - 14.03%
2006 - 76.94%
2005 - 106.43%

Typical accountant, doing ROI"s on a weeks betting.  2005 and 2006 were great years.   ;D

First things first, as promised.

Race-goers at Goodwood will find it hard not to notice the inspiring monumental equestrian sculpture in bronze that forms the centrepiece of Glorious Goodwood.

Sculptor, Nic Fiddian-Green, best known for the "Horse at Water" currentyl at Marble Arch, has created the work especially for this season"s major flat race meeting.

From his workshop near Godalming in rural Surrey, Fiddian-Green creates his epic works of art from clay.  He oversees the casting into bronze using the ancient "lost wax" technique, a process that has facinated him through his carer.  The alchemy of molten bronze pouring into his moulds at 1200oc has been a process that he needs to be a part of in the creation of his work.  He always patinas (colours) his work himself, a process that other sculptors never do; his work is noticeably unique in its final finish as a result.

Fiddian-Green has been working on a large scale for some time now, but has not always focussed on colossal sculpture.  His many global exhibitions have taken him from London to New York, Paris, Dublin, Dubai, Melbourne and Sydney where Russell Crowe first saw and started collecting his work.  His high profile fans are too numerous to mention and include Tom Cruise and Sir Anthony and Lady Bamford, the latter of whom will install one of Fiddian-Green"s sculptures imminently at their Daylseford estate in Gloucestershire.

Speaking about his work, Fiddian-Green comments, "My primary aim is to place beautiful works of art in landscape and I can thing of nowhere more powerful for my Greek horses head - Artemis than on the ancient site of the trundle at Goodwood overlooking the steeple of CHichester Cathedral to the sea and across to the Isle of Wight..."

1st time i have had a look this week, looks a tricky day so only one maximum bet for me

Tactic in the 15.25, has improved massively for the step up in trip plus 2 miles will only assist more. AOB"s horses still not running well, should get around 4-1 on betfair tommorow morning.

Good luck all!

Thanks for the pics Leigh , the singers look interesting :)
Today Thursday looks tough again , the going looks a bit softer than good to me especially in the last 2 furlongs on the far side , so it will fascinating to see if the stand side is the better side in the sprints..You got some good picks today Leigh they ""should"" run well :)

2010-07-29 GOODWOOD
2:10 - Beachfire
2:45 - Amour Propre & Spin Cycle
3:25 - the main event wowser at first i thought ""easy peezy Age of Aquarius"" but there are dangers - Tactic [ran well at the Curragh beating a very nice horse, Dermot Welds Profound Beauty , cross your fingers Redders]
Illustrious Blue has a great record at Goodwood , Purple Moon showed the form at Ascot that gained him a 2nd in the Melbourne Cup so todays trip suits...  Wajir if he shows his french form could do ok , but i"m having a speculative punt on Free Agent each way...
4:00 - Ship"s Biscuit
4.35 - Smart Step ew
5.10 - Rakaan & Glen Shiel
5:45 - Medici Time & Osiris Way

glgl all [bra on head for last race if no winners upto then ::)]

What to have a go at in the 15:25, Im thinking TBP on Betfair for Purple Moon or Illustrious Blue? I think will have to go for Fallon"s ride!
