It"s a pretty strong lineup for the final - should be interesting watching today.  We"re going top three Martin, Eidsvig and McDonald (Go UK!), although really any of them is capable of taking it down, especially if some of the shorter, aggressive stacks (like that of Tony Bloom or Noah Boeken) gets an early double up.

Basically, we have no idea who"s going to win this, but we"re keen to find out.  Currently the €300 rebuy final is being announced over the Casino sound system, which filled me with dread as I entered the building that the final had not only started, but got down to three-handed while we were comatose in our hotel room.  But no - we"re about half an hour away from kick-off.  Stay tuned.

Trond Eidsvig has had some great results since he appeared at the Scottish Championships a few months ago.  It will be interesting to see if he can get over the line in this one.

Might be a little quiet on the APAT front as we are running a regional event in 12 casinos today.  :-[

Well, they haven"t quite shuffled up yet, nor, indeed, dealt, but we have just witnessed an astounding entrance-type ceremony, involving all the finalists being held in a little pen at the top of the stairs while their names and achievements were individually read out to an ooh-ing crowd. After each player had been introduced, a song started to blast out and they grandstanded their way across the casino floor through a kind of parted sea of spectators towards the TV table. I really can"t tell whether they got to pick their own entrance music, because it was seven random dodgy trance selections, "Can You Feel It" for Joris Jaspers, and some kind of Prodigy-esque heavy metally type number for Tristan McDonald. Benjo maintains that it"s all off of a single Europop CD acquired by the casino in 1992.

Anyways, a spectacle indeed. I"m a little disappointed by the lack of pyrotechnics, that would have been awesome, but it was pretty surreal even with their absence. Photos of this madness to follow shortly...

We have decided to give you the comprehensive pictorial coverage - both the portrait we got in the bar (sorry - High Rollers bar) as they were being miked up, and from the back as they headed on the reverse walk of shame Dana described.

There has been shuffling up, and a measure of dealing.

First hand, Eric Larcheveque raises to 30k or so. Noah Boeken reraises to 65k, and Eric calls. The flop says K-7-7 rainbow, and Noah moves all in, to which Eric promptly folds. Chips for Boeken.

Then a flop is seen by Michael Martin and Trond Eidsvig - it is  8c :2c: 5d. Michael bets out, and Trond folds. Chips for Martin.

Then Tristan McDonald (that is in fact his name, apparently the Dutch have been calling him Justin because they can"t pronounce Tristan) raises; he takes the blinds.
