Seat 8  Tristan McDonald -- 415,000

It turns out that we were right all along about his name - had an interesting chat with him pre-tourney - more later - but he was written as "Justin" because people were apparently having problems saying his name...

And now some big big action.

Eric Larcheveque raises to 30k or so, and Tristan McDonald makes it 100k; Eric moves all in. There is much dwellage. "What does he have that he"s dwelling so long?" wonders Benjo. Soon we find out, because after some long minutes of knuckle-gnawing, he makes the call. Eric slams his fist on the table in delight. "He must have Aces," says Benjo. Indeed he does.

Eric Larcheveque -  ah ad

Tristan McDonald -  qc qs

Board -  ac 8c :2s: js jh

Larcheveque doubles up, and McDonald is very short.

Tristan has just moved all-in...uncalled.  He says Hi, by the way, to Tracey, Ellen and Jessica.  An interesting character, who works in the city and plays rarely (although with statistically unlikely success - he was runner up in this event in "06) McDonald has played the Masterclassics four or five times, and the WSOP Main Event.  Apart from that, he considers going pro to perhaps knock some of the fun from the game...but judging from his play it could be a possibility for him.

He says he plays for fun, and is, "From the David Spanier school of poker."  His rather odd claim to fame is that he was the last person to win a hand off Spanier before his death, having played in his game the night before...

As for his flush fold yesterday, "the biggest laydown I have ever made," he considered that although, "I would have been cross if he didn"t have it," the situation eventually seemed to him to warrant a - correct - fold.  Describing that intuitive poker decision modestly as "guesswork," he says that usually he"s not so expressive while inwardly torturing himself over decisions - it"s just that both his opponents were already all in.  Fair enough.

Describing himself as, "Not the nervous type," he does appear very composed at this final table, although he says having played Grundtvig before that he"s a tricky customer and one to watch.

Best of luck, sir.

And more action! Shortstack Tony Bloom moves all in. "He"s not going to get a call," says Jen, and she"s sort of right - Christian Grundtvig now moves in over the top, and everyone else gets out of the way.

Tony Bloom -  ah qc

Christian Grundtvig -  kd kc

Board -  7s :3h: jd 7d 7h

And Tony Bloom is OUT in 9th place winning €34,000.

No messing about from the relative shortstacks here - now Joris Jaspers moves all in, but no-one calls and he takes those delicious blinds. Joris is only 20 years old, by the way (or "20 years young," as the announcer insists on phrasing it). He is also responsible for "Can You Feel It" being now irrevocably wedged into the brains of your updaters. Gah.

Big stacks Michael Martin and Trond Eidsvig have yet to see any action at all though.

And all in two hands in a row, Joris was going to get caught. Probably helped that Michael Martin found Aces.

Joris shoves, and Michael instacalls, just sort of muttering "yup" or similar and flipping his cards as he grabs a stack of chips for the call.

Joris Jaspers -  qd jd

Michael Martin -  ac :as:

Board -  td qs 6s 4c :2c:

So Joris Jaspers is OUT in 8th place winning €47,000. Someone gave him a bunch of flowers as he made his exit.

Give that Trond hasn"t played a hand yet and Joris had a few nicked blinds and antes to bump up his stack, this may well have tipped the chip lead in Michael Martin"s favour.

Tristan McDonald pushed preflop once again, when it passed to him on the small blind.  Expected though that might have been, big blind Christian Grundtvig didn"t find enough to call him with and he picks up another set of blinds and antes.

The next hand, Trond Eidsvig dusts off his stack for a preflop raise, and although it looked for a minute like Micke Norinder was going to give him a spin, nothing else happened.

And there he goes again, raising under the gun to 39,000... this time button Christian Grundtvig is the dwelling potential caller, who turns into an actual caller.  The blinds pass and the flop comes:

:3s: 5s js  Trond bets out 55k and Christian starts shuffling a larger stack of white chips in a potential-raisy sort of way... yep - he makes it 120,000 with little delay.  Trond fixes him with a stare, chip riffling and then re-raises all in!  Instacall...

Christian shows:   jh jc
Trond shows:  kd ks

Turn:  8d
River:  6s

And with a wincing noise from the crowd, that means that the flush for Eidsvig makes Christian Grundtvig our 7th place finisher, winning €66,000!
