I flipped my seat to Day 1b as I had something to do on Saturday.
I got there at 12 happy to be playing in an EPT side event, after getting in for £12, due to a few techincal issues we got underway at 12.20, I was out of the door by 12:45.
6th hand in I get QJ in the sb.
Blinds are 25/25, early position raises to 75 and 4 people see the flop.
Flop brings QJ9. So I hit two pair but I wanted to control the pot to see another card, all folds around to the cut off who makes it 250 to go and I flat for the turn. I flatted here because I wanted to peel a card and evaluate. The others get out of the way.
Turn brings the Q, which gives me the nut boat. I check again and cut off fires 350. I made the decision to flat here because I wanted to get value from K10 or Q9 and J9, perhaps I could have raised it here.
River brings a 9, this is a bingo card for me in many ways, if he has any Q in his hand I"m getting his stack. So I lead for 650 into the 1500 chip pot. I didn"t really think about the bet sizing but I was looking for a raise, sure enough he goes all in and I snap.
I flip QJ feeling rather happy until he flips 99. GG me.
I snapped because I felt with 2nd nuts I was good, plus with 6k stacks and 25 min clock this is the time to get it in. I don"t think many would have got away there. And on the question of the raise turn, knowing the cards, if I raise at this point, it"s all going in anyway.
So there you go, he was ahead, I was ahead, he won. C"est la vie.
