Data in Vegas
« on: September 29, 2010, 15:35:41 PM »
I"n heading off to Vegas in November (blatant brag) but it will be my first trip with a smartphone (you know...with the interwebz and all).

Now, not wanting to sacrifice my other kidney to T-Mobile at £7.50 a MB, I"m looking for cheaper option. I"m not worried about calls and texts, I have that handled with my current deal but data is a real...ahem...*beeotch*.

So, do any APATers have any experience or inside knowledge they"d care to share?

I have found MrSimCard who seem to do a pretty reasonable deal but before I commit, I thought I"d throw it out there.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Paulie

Oh...I"ll have that but it"s kind of a swine to lug around when checking Twitter feeds etc.

Oh, and they look at you funny when you ask to plug in your laptop at the poker table.  ;D

Because I have acquaintances and other contacts in Vegas and it"s another way to stay in contact and see where we all are and what we"re doing.

Then there are Location-based apps like Yelp/Foursquare, Google Maps...and then there"s Facebook and all the other gubbins.

I have my reasons but they"re mine and I"m happy with them.

Thanks for the input.

Yes , yes ...I know all that.

I"m after any experiences of NOT having to use wifi.

Believe me...I"ve researched this to death...but I still live in hope that google doesn"t know everything.

The only thing that I can suggest is to change your network provider, I use a well known provider of a certain colour and fruit. On my iphone contract it allows unlimited internet access and download usage anywere using 3G, wifi etc for under £30 pm...... just a thought
hope this helps

Sorry...I seriously doubt if your contract allows for unlimited internet (data roaming) in the US....which is the point.

I already have unlimited internet (well 1GB) in the UK for the same £30pm....and I"m locked into that for 2 years.
