This looks very tempting...not sure if my guilt complex at leaving the kids for so long would cope very well plus the babysitting fees would be horrendous!!

I do however have over 35k Virgin airmiles and yes I am a VV too.

OMG that would be awesome -- Just do it Suz -- pleeeeeeese

I will deffo look into it. I have promised myself that I will go to Vegas one day and an Apat/weemans birthday event sounds too good to miss :)

Ger has to renew his passport (getting the photos today) as soon as he does that I am booking the flights and getting the ESTA sorted.

I"ve started writing the Hotel tips about half a dozen times now only to get bogged down in the variety of options that are available and when you combine that with the specific requirements that individuals....it"s a veritable quagmire.

I did have a discussion with some people in Bolton at about 1am on Sunday so some of it has gone missing but I will get started on MY Travel Tips thing shortly*.

*I have to finish off writing about Bolton but it looks like I"ll have some time before S5 is announced to get it done....oh, then there"s, you know, work!

For myself, in line with my Hotels section of the LV Travel Tips thread, I will almost certainly be staying at Harrah"s.

For the week 17/11/11 - 24/11/11, I"ve been quoted:

$425 Classic Room
$565 Luxury room (which is Classic with a Strip View)
$635 Deluxe Room
$705 Mini-Suite

If I log into Caesars.com and check with Total Rewards (their comps system) this drops to:

$315 Classic Room
$455 Luxury room
$525 Deluxe Room
$645 Mini-Suite

I"m not booking just yet...there may be a deal around the corner...plenty of time.

Harrah"s does look good - I particularly liked the mention of an Olympic sized swimming pool; but then saw

This Las Vegas pool closes in October and reopens in February/March.

Although decent entertainment is not in short supply in Las Vegas, Harrahs does have a good selection of offerings including:

The Improv Comedy Club
Dueling Pianos Bar
Toby Keith"s I Love This Bar & Grill
Carnaval Court

Just checked on United Airlines for the cost of flying via LAX with an upgrade to Business Class for the transatlantic portion (using my miles)...£830.

That"s significantly cheaper than the current PE seat on Virgin (£1200+).

The only issue is that I probably won"t be able to get the upgrade confirmed until 2 months before travel....meh!

If anyone is considering using BA miles as well as cash to upgrade, I have bought a World Traveller Plus seat for £1200 and used 25000 BA miles to upgrade to Club World both ways. The normal costs was £3300. Seemed like a reasonable deal to me.

There are a limited number of seats available for upgrade on this basis so get in quick if you are considering it as an option.

For those looking for a cheaper option but still centre strip, there is the old favorite the Imperial Palace.

I"ve heard horror stories but have stayed their a number of times and have never encountered a real problem...is it down-market?...definitely, and not the place to impress a significant other but...for value and location it"s the canine"s testes.

17/11 - 24/11

$265 - Capri Room (Don"t...just don"t)
$298 - Classic Room
$328 - Deluxe Room
$598 - Deluxe w. Luv Tub  :o

Don"t forget that there is a 12% tax to be added to any of these prices + any internet charges (c.$15 a day)

This is interesting...I joined BA"s Executive Club today (why not, you never know?) and that reminded me that I could claim back for the flights to and from Barcelona. That gave me c.1500 miles.
