Not sure which one will be next from my previous stays - El Cortez or Ceasars Palace?

Neither.

The ElCo has just gone through a remodel and is probably picking up a lot of Binion"s old trade.

Caesars shows no signs of shutting up shop....although they did stop construction on an additional tower a year or so back IIRC.

Excalibur and Circus Circus could be added to my list but I was only joking about Caesars

Excalibur...they might "de-theme" it (like they did the Luxor) although that would be a major undertaking but, close it...nah.

I can see Circus Circus going...MGM really don"t need don"t need it hanging round their necks as it"s run down and could use a good demo and rebuild but MGM can"t afford it right now.

However, from what I hear, it"s the one place to stay if you want to keep the kids happy so it has decent occupancy rates albeit at lower rates....oh, and apparently it has one of best "bang for your buck" steakhouses in Vegas.

I may not be able to miss this trip now...

I can get an excellent deal on a room c.$80 - $140 depending on which hotel and I can get a £264 "free" flight using Virgin airmiles. Would have to travel out on either 15th or 18th though, no free seats left on 16th or 17th.

Some serious buttering-up of "er indoors required now then!

:D

OK, just reread this whole thread for tips on flights and hotels.

Agree with those that think its worth the extra to fly direct. I have done it both ways and when you consider the difference is a buy-in then the bonus of the extra time is well worth it.

So on that basis I might have to risk being on the same flight as Ger (17th/24th Manc - Virgin). Currently £615 on Expedia and Virgin website.

As far as hotel goes that a whole different issue. As the missus has so kindly agreed to join me  ::) I would get away with the IP or similar. Looking at the same room we had last year (Caesars Palace - deluxe in Palace tower) its $1,537.

Any recommendation on rooms around that standard but maybe a bit cheaper! I do insist on central strip though.

Really need some help here guys, this is the problem
The wife is due to be made redundant in September, she"s decided that she would like a week or two in the sun when she finishes.
We"ve been frequent visitors to Vegas since 2000 going at least once a year staying downtown since 2006 as she enjoys the bingo down there while I prefere Binions & the Nugget poker rooms.
We agreed earlier this year that we would definatley give Vegas a miss this year.
How can I get round this?
Thanks in advance

Either you stick to the decision you, apparently, both made earlier or you talk her round.

How long do you have off? If you have the time, could you do, say a week in the sun in the US (Florida?) and then a second in Vegas.

Moving this to the General Vegas thread so as not to hijack!

  • Vague memories of being in Vegas
I wonder if it"s worth waiting for the venue to be confirmed before booking the hotel as maybe they will offer an incentive for APATers to stay with them. The bar bill and 3 card poker takings will be increase for sure, and that"s just the Duke.  ;D

  • I wish I was as good as someone better than me!
Here"s the deal I have been offered for 5 rooms or more.

Good Afternoon Richard,

I hope you are having a wonderful day! Below you will find rates for Harrahs and Caesars Palace Las Vegas. These rates are valid for 72 hours and if you are unable to make a decision on whether you'd like to set up a block by that point I would be happy to revisit the rates at your convenience.

We do our best to make booking a block of rooms as simple as possible for you. Once you've decided on the property and the rates we will create a group code. We do not require any funds at the time the block is created. You then have two options for booking; individual call in reservations or by rooming list.

With individual call in we will provide you with the group code and booking phone number for you to give your guests. They will be able to call in until 30 days prior to your date, at which time we will release all remaining rooms in the block so that you are not responsible for them.

If you decide to work with a rooming list we would need one main point of contact, the rooming list would have to be in along with full nights room and tax deposit for each reservation no later than 30 days prior to arrival. After the rooming list is in we will release any remaining rooms in the block so that you are not responsible for them.

For a group dining experiences you'll want to contact Restaurant Group Sales at 866-733-5827 or LVCityWideRestaurantGroupSales@harrahs.com. They have access to all of our properties restaurants and those they don't directly work with they will be able to put you in touch with the appropriate people. If you are looking for a banquet room please let me know as this is another department.

After a room block is set up for you we will also be happy to assist you with any additional amenities you may want to set up such as nightlife, shows, dining, golf, transportation, and much more.

Harrahs Las Vegas Room Rates:

11/13 through 11/17- $30.00 per night; 11/18 and 11/19- $70.00 per night; 11/20 through 11/24- $30.00 per night

*Guest can upgrade to a newly remodeled Deluxe room for only an additional $30.00 per night

Caesars Palace Las Vegas Room Rates:

11/13 through 11/15- $79.00 per night; 11/16 and 11/17- $89.00 per night; 11/18: $159.00; 11/19: $129.00; 11/20
through 11/24- $79.00 per night

Great news, we have no resort fees here at Caesars Entertainment. The only additional charge on the listed room rates below is a 12% hotel tax. Please let me know if you need anything at all and I hope you have an outstanding day! : )

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you,

Let me know what you think.

Close...

17/11 $30
18/11 $70
19/11 $70
20/11 $30
21/11 $30
22/11 $30
23/11 $30

      $290

So $145 each, assuming 2 sharing from 17 - 24/11.

You can have 4 in a room, in two Queen size beds, so $72.50 if you"re all "good friends".

That will be plus 12% tax. Of curse "No Resort Fee" means appx $15 a day for in room internet, if required.

That group rate is pretty much the same as the rate I was given after signing in with my Total Rewards card - I think the Caesars one is identical so the Harrahs one might well be as well.

I"ve got zero activity registered on my TR card so if anybody has actually used there"s they should get a better deal.

Caesars Palace Las Vegas Room Rates:

11/13 through 11/15- $79.00 per night; 11/16 and 11/17- $89.00 per night; 11/18: $159.00; 11/19: $129.00; 11/20
through 11/24- $79.00 per night

Richard, I got your message but apologies for not getting back to you earlier. This is a pretty good rate but I would be interested to know which CLASS of rooms are on offer at Harrahs  / Caesars.

From reading the above, it would appear that they are offering upgrades to the Deluxe at Harrahs so I"m assuming it"s the Classic or Luxury room but I would be interested in knowing which.

It might also be nice to confirm the Caesars room type.

All in all, a pretty good deal for the Vegas newbies and those who have (as I have) run down the comps.

As it is, it looks like a no-brainer...we have until 30 days before to find a better rate or ring in and use the group booking code to make a reservation.

My only issue and it"s not related to the cost, is the number of rooms...would they be willing to make it a block of 10...or even 20? From my reading of this thread, this thing could get HUGE!

Of course "No Resort Fee" means appx $15 a day for in room internet, if required.

Alan, that"s $15 PER DEVICE.....so if you have 3 laptops between you in 4 person room...that"s $45 per day...it mounts up.

I"m thinking of investing in a small travel wifi router that counts as one device when you plug it in to the cable and then feed off that....the Apple Airport Express.
