What"s the betting Paul has got that blown up in a gold frame so it"s the first thing you see as you walk in his house?

Alongside his framed picture of Judy Garland and his collection of the worlds greatest musicals on CD.

Sorry Paul.   ;)

And behind door number 11 is............................

Is this the youngest WCOAP winner ever ?

Can"t be bothered to check, and even if he isn"t by age, he is by name, as it"s Ben Young.

Although there was also this chap

Colin Young, who won the 6max side event at the WCOAP.

So Ben in the youngest Young to win at the WCOAP.  I haven"t checked that either, but going by the photos above, I think it"s a safe bet, and Colin would look more shocked than above it if were proved different.

And no, they are not related.  Ben is from Wales (I sense a theme here), and Colin is from, well he"s not from Wales anyway.

I feel that the research is going well with this one.

Ben picked up the title of World Amateur Champion, along with the trophy, gold medal, thousands in cash, GUKPT Grand Final seat and significant media exposure.  Although I understand he was gutted not to make the North Wales Daily Post, but that"s what happens when you come from Cardiff.

Ben got high praise from the watching masses that weekend, and rumour has it, he might be planning on taking this poker lark a bit more seriously.

Watch this space, we may just hear a lot more about Ben Young in the future.

And behind door number 9 is............................

Many hands make light work, and in APAT's case, that statement is so true.  APAT seems to have it"s own circle of life when it comes to members willing to offer support, and as one persons available time diminishes due to other life commitments, so another is always willing to step into the breach.

So many people to say thank you to this year, so in no particular order.

Ian, Mary & James.  My partners in crime in looking after the online national league and also moderating the forum.

Also on the mod side we have

James & Neil

and not forgetting our resident travel and seat exchange mod

Paul, who worringly has his name on his shirt, so he doesn"t forget it, yet we trust him to give us travel tips and suggest the best hotels to stay in for each venue.  ???

Then there"s these guys

But more about James and Maylis in a later door, me thinks.  ;)

And of course, there"s all the folks that once they have got knocked out of the event, been over to the update area, told their badbeat story, had either Tighty or Myself nod sympathetically and been offered a caring "Oh well, that"s poker", who will then roll up their sleeves and either grab a pad and pen, a camera, or scarely sometimes even the microphone and help the update for those unfortunate enough to be at home.

And here is where I am bound to forget some people, so sorry in advance if I do.

Dafydd
James
Phil
Martyn
Amanda
Sian
Dawn
Tikay, Simon Trumper, Rob Yong

Not a bad lineup of support for the main acts, and without them APAT wouldn"t be anything like as popular and successful.

Cheers Guys.  :)

I would just like to personally thank all of the guys mentioned above and Leigh and Tighty for all that they do for APAT.

I think APAT has changed the face of the game for recreational players in the UK since launch in 2006 and it simply would not exist without the many hours that these guys put in.

Awesome job team, huge respect to each of you.

Regards,

Des.

And behind door number 12 is............................

You will probably know this player as "THE PREST1GE" on Betfair

He is Warren Jones, and he has just finished top of the APAT Online Rankings for Season 4.

It was nailbiting stuff though.

Going into the final two events, Tony Trippier led the rankings with 55 points.  Tony finished 9th in the PLO event, meaning 56 points was the target to beat.

Meanwhile in the NLHE Main Event, we were heading towards the points at 18th place, with Frank Bailie (53pts), Warren Jones (47pts), Steve Bayliff (40pts) and Charles Mason (38pts) still in with a shout.

By the time Frank Bailie exited in 13th place, the new target to beat was 59 points, meaning only Warren could beat him by finishing in 6th place or higher.

As the final table started, Warren had 50k, with blinds at 1250/2500.  Not much room for error, but players kept dropping out, and although his stack was now down to 30k, there were only 7 players left.

Warren was then allin twice.  First time with pocket kings, but no callers.  The second time with AQ and was up against AK only to hit a queen third card out and another fourth card out.

It wasn"t long after that we lost Ant Williams in 7th place, and that meant the Warren Jones has hit the top of the online rankings for the season.

Warren wins a seat at the Champion of Chamipions event being held in Bolton in January, where someone will walk away with a £20k sponsorship package courtesy of Betfair Poker.

Oh, i didn"t realise we were supposed to help out?!

I thought the process was....

Get knocked out.
Go and speak to you. "So, what happened was....", "and then the flop was..." "and then he re-raised", "i must be ahead" ...... 20 minutes pass ......... "so i 4-bet", "he shoves, i snap him off and the river comes a feckin J and he hits his miracle 32 outer!. Donk!"
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Tell fellow BCPC members "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Tell random APAT player "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go back to Leigh "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer. Tell bartender "So, what happened was...."
Listen to Phils advice and decide to play in the "deepstack" Sit And Go for just £20, plus £10 reg fee.
Get given 500 chips and told the blind levels start at 25/50 and last 48 seconds.
Lose 500 chips.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, get beer bought for you by James Edwards after reminding him how he knocked you out of your first ever APAT when he hit his 2 outer on the river. "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into wife .. "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into wife again .. "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, get beer bought for you by random guy who you let go in front of you in the queue. Tell him about what happened was ...
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into wife again. Tell her how much you love her.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into Brian Yates. Tell him how much you love him. "So, what happened was...."
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into Tony Trippier and tell him that yes, you did know about his bronze in the stud.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer. Tell bartender you love her.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Bump into some random bloke you met as some APAT last year. Tell him how much you love him. "So, what happened was...."
Bump into wife again. Get told you"re leaving.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, drop beer.
Go to the bar, buy beer, lose beer.
Fall into wife.
Wake up feeling somewhat worse for wear wondering where you are.
Bump into wife again. Get told she"s leaving. Tell her how much you love her.
Head back to casino.

Go to the bar, buy beer, drink beer...........................................................

I do apologise Leigh. It seems i haven"t been doing my duty as an APAT member.

Next time i"ll bring a pen.

You forgot .....

Fall over surinder Sunar and tell him you love him after first swearing "no way is that Surinder"
Suddenly get muchies 10 mins after they stop serving food
Invite yourself to mine for curry - Again!

It"s an enjoyable pleasure helping out, whether updating, "running", or taking the snaps.

Mmmmmm   When will I learn?  "Never  trust a poker player".

It was my first ever APAT event.  DTD, Worlds - Heads up.  I was as nervous as hell.   I sat at the table, and after feeling total panic coz there appeared to be no amounts on the chips.  I turned one over and realized with great relief that I was saved from looking a fool, in having to ask the dealer what the amounts were.

I played the first round, totally shocking myself, beating my opponent and making it through to the second round.

As I made my way to the table for the next round, I was introduced to my new opponent.

"I have never played live before"  he tells me.   New to the game and being an innocent young lady, I believed him.  I relaxed a little, and knew if I remembered everything my two great teachers had taught me, I would be fine.

I never made the third round......But my opponent did, and went on to win a bronze medal.

Thanks Warren.  It was a pleasure to play against you.  When you got third place, I didn"t feel so bad, the fact that I had gone out to you.

I did learn one very important lesson from you.....I will NEVER trust a poker player.

Good Luck in Bolton.
