Staying in the etap by the casino. I know at least three others are as well so could easily get a taxi somewhere.

Ashton Lane in the West End is usually a good night !

Full of very small pubs that are really good midweek but a real squeeze at weekend. The exception would be The Loft which is a good size and has a great atmosphere

The exclamation mark at the end there has scared me a bit  :-\

I don"t have sat nav, I am perfectly happy getting lost. I agree exclamation marks can be scary but we really have no choice here, we just have to trust Grant and go where he says. Without the steady influence of Paulie, Ger or Jaxie the Friday night could get FUBAR. Last time they were not there we ended up playing poker (despite my best effort to locate Paulie and rescue the evening) - well everybody else ended up playing poker, I went home *lol*. We are required to maintain the best standards of APAT.

Let"s just hope we don"t walk into one of those SPL Old Firm derby"s by mistake....... Oh Wait :D

I do tend to over use the exclamation mark  :( but only to accentuate a point  ;D I"ve had plenty of good nights on Ashton Lane, both midweek and weekend. Great atmosphere, very friendly.

Pilgrim"s Progress

Due to my unfortunate lack of broadband I never quite got round to a proper write up after the ECOAP, don"t worry I"m not going to start one now  :P

Other than to say an extended weekend at DTD saw some of my APAT favourites finally get their long awaited rewards with Golds in the team, 6 max & of course main event. I had the good fortune of sharing most of Day 1 at that ME on our starting table 35 with a certain Carl Pilgrim, with whom I enjoyed a few laughs, a few friendly confrontations with his pocket jacks, all in the company of many other fine fellows along the way who treated me to a very enjoyable 10 hours, which I"m sure will be hard to top at any future poker table. These included Bob Bulman, Chen Tam, Kevin O"Hanlon, Chris Peers and Carl"s eventual HU opponent Dean Marden.

Until this point I"d had very few opportunities to share a table with Carl other than during a some of the APAT online encounters, during which I"ve found him to be a solid player respected highly by all on our great site. He & Emma have been sound company when we meet up & I"m glad I"ve got to know them a bit more over the past few years, so I was as delighted as anyone when he proved to himself (as if proof was actually needed ::)) he"s a fine player of this mad game we"ve all come to love, and he overcame a fine field of 276 players to secure one of the biggest titles and prizes APAT has provided in it"s first 6 seasons. Well done again Mr Pilgrim  8) All the very best at your future AV events and I look forward to our next APAT meeting.

Very well done to Paul Sefton on winning the ECOAP online ME last night, great performance from The Sef with an impressive 2nd for Graeme Morl. Thoroughly enjoyed the game, despite hitting most of my nice hands early on and not getting paid for the big pre flop hands in later stages. Also enjoyed the banter at FT between Al Armitage and Tom Clark in a light hearted Scotland v England confrontation that involved quite a bit of fish & chips and didn"t get out of hand  ;D

Thanks Grant your kind words mean a lot and to hear such nice things from people who understand the dynamics of poker are very humbling. A memory that I will cherish for ever, it"s impossible to put into words the feeling you get when you have so many of your fellow poker players cheering for you both live and online AMAZING! Doesn"t come close  :)
Indeed as you say playing online often against each other is fun and always a challenge as we both have respect for each other, but spending that time on the first day at DTD I can honestly hand on heart say was the most enjoyable to date even better than the FT, was lucky to have position against you all day (just unlucky to have Dean to my left), as with your game my decision making would of been a lot harder, Chen was an absolute pleasure to have at table impossible to read but a great laugh.. Emma could not of wished for a better bunch of guys to help her through the long hours of boredom, and that is what makes me feel so indebted to all you peeps out there, having to rely on Emma for so much in everything I do it puts me in a hard place when it comes to live Poker as you know she pretty much has no interest, but now is coming around when she knows there are true friends like yourself, Ian, Ger, JP , Phil, the list goes on who treat her so well THANKYOU ALL.
Hope to see you at Stoke end of Nov start of December, have booked my hotel as have found inlaws will look after kids  ;D
Shame I can"t make Glasgow but hope you manage to retain your well earned title, Emma and me will be cheering you on from Ipswich don"t you worry.. Thanks again for your kind words x

Thanks Grant. Loved the tourny, loved the banter and loved the rail. All in all it was a good night/week
You can only play pocket jacks 3 ways, all of which are wrong.

It's only a gambling problem if you are losing :D

Week 1 of league 2 in season 6 saw me get off to a flyer, binking flopped sets and straights and leading to being clear CL for the first half of the game. Things dried up a bit through the middle stages when i lost a couple of AIPF races v short stacks with a big ace v PP. I managed to pick things up again in the latter part of the game to make the FT in a pretty healthy state on around the 200k mark, but disappointingly ended in 5th place for 16 points and no team points, after doubling Andy D with his rivered 2 pair, then a 3 bet with JJ went wrong on a KcQcX flop. That left me with an open spot on the button with just over 70k at 5k/10k and in it went with 4/5suited. BB left me with only 1 live card on 4/4 lol and no help for me.

WP to Ute, Sian & David for their top 3 finishes and hat tipping to Andy D for his immaculate grinding skills at that FT. Very well played all others, looking forward to week 2 already and hopefully get the Team Scotland train rolling  ;)

Had a nice 3rd place in a 20euro game on poker.co.uk midweek for just over 200 euros so all in all not a bad week on the new site. Looking forward to week 2 of the league and 8 sleeps till the big event at Alea  ;)

That obviously means it"s only 7 sleeps till i meet up with the APAT travellers for a few beers in Glasgow city centre and any locals who want to join us are very welcome  ;D
