;D

I went okay for the first 3 levels. I didn"t get many hands, less than my share :) AK & TT were the best. I won a couple of decent pots with the TT and 66 when I flopped a set. I managed to get up to just short of 13k and ahead of average.

I lost a chunk to Jonathan Butters when I raised in pre with KJs. He called in the bb. The flop was K-high rainbow and I bet 2/3 pot to his check & get called. The turn is a 9 and the 2nd spade. He bets, I call. The river is another K which blinds me to the fact that it"s also the 3rd spade. He bets 1k and I quickly call. I was a bit mad with myself immediately after but having time to reflect, I think I"m probably right to call. He showed the nut flush obv (having paired the 9 on the turn).

I then go absolutely card dead for the next three levels until picking up KK early pos. I raise, which in itself should have sent everyone running for the hills. I get one caller. The flop comes 3A3 and I decide to meekly check (I"d convinced myself I was behind as I was up against the bloke who had been an absolute card-rack AND had the deck smashing him in the face). He checks too. The turn comes a 6. I check again having given up on the hand, he bets and I sigh fold. He does however show a set of 6"s. Perhaps I should have shoved the flop? I had 5.5k at 150/300/25.

Just an orbit or so later I find AA early with just under 5k and raise again to 800 & get called by the bb. The flop comes KT4 all hearts and I immediately turn psychic, foretelling my fate :). The bb bets 1k, I shove for just over 4k. He obviously calls with JQ one of which is a heart. The turn is the 5h to put me out of my misery straight away.

I quite enjoyed it but it"s never nice to be card dead. I was a bit nervous beforehand tbh which I think led to me making a couple of silly mistakes - missing the possible flush was one and I chucked a 500 chip in to raise with AT which had to go as a call (which is pretty unforgiveable).

I had been told beforehand that the standard of play wouldn"t be that great and that was definitely true. One bloke contrived to give all his chips away after 20 mins with 77 on a 6-high flop when up against AA. That was an eye-opener!
There were a couple of other hands that made my jaw gape a little but sadly, I can"t remember what they were.

I really, really tried to concentrate and remember some of the action but it just wasn"t happening. Even some of the details of my own hands above are sketchy. It"s very frustrating. What would people think to keeping a pen & notebook at the table for note-taking? I don"t suppose there is an Android app for recording live tournament hands? I"ve got to try something. A goldfish playing poker is always going to struggle.
