Thinking TimeIt"s been a busy week on the work front, but also plenty of time to reflect on a few things.
I"ve been catching up on plenty of reading, a lot poker related. I came across an interesting blog on Betfair about a guy who has a four year plan to turn £1,000 into £1,000,000 through sports betting.
Through compounding up winnings, he"s aiming for a 5% compounded growth of his initial bankroll per week. So for example :-
Week | Starting Balance | Winnings | Closing Balance |
| | | |
1 | £1000 | £50 | £1050 |
2 | £1050 | £52.50 | £1102.50 |
3 | £1102.50 | £55.13 | £1157.63 |
4 | £1157.63 | £57.88 | £1215.51 |
| | | |
142 | £972,055 | £48,603 | £1,020,659 |
Seems simple, doesn"t it ?
By placing 1% or 2% bets on a daily basis (Maximum 5% outlay), and grinding, little and often to make a small profit each day to get to your 5% growth each week.
Should be interesting to follow. It requires patience and control, which goes against a lot of what makes a gambler. So, is this more if an investment model than a gambling model ?
It"s got me thinking.
