So much to update on the weekend just gone.  Never get a chance to blog when I"m away for an APAT weekend.

Let"s start with the Betfair Market on the event.

Tighty asks for a tenner on the London Poker Meetup as they went to 25 on Saturday morning.  There was £13 available, so I snapped up the lot.  Also has £3 matched on them at 28 earlier in the week.

So, Tighty bags £240, and I clear about £140 after other bets.  Was a bit worried late on day one.  Chezger had plenty of players left in, enough said.  ;)

Whilst in Bolton, I missed that Grand Crus had a convincing win, so one of my Cheltenham antepost"s has gone from 18.5 to around 3.7 on Betfair.  Sweet.

All in all, not a bad weekend, and that"s without any poker. (Which I was £10 down.  Never sit for a friendly game with APATers.  JBWorldwide should be ashamed, 53os, FFS.  Ruined my night  ;) )

Played the second leg of the BBP League last night.  Finished 15th in the first one, so going to keep playing it for a bit.

Managed to finish 3rd, although should have won it based on the play I saw, but ran JJ into AA 3 handed, built it back up a bit, then lost TT v AK.  Still, bit of cash and banked more points.

However, the highlight of the tournament took place around the bubble.

I am chipleader on my table, and let"s just say, I am taking advantage of the bubble situation.   ;)

One particular player, takes offence to my play and chats

"Stop it Chip"

"This is so unfair"

"Stop going allin"

etc. etc. etc

I find this quite funny and try to explain that it"s part of the dynamics of the table and the point in the structure.  It"s clearly not going in, and we"ve now gathered quite a rail, who are all finding this quite amusing.

We hit the final table, and the aforementioned player goes out in 10th place, and then decided to antirail me for the remainder of the game.

I was told

"I had no respect for fellow players"

"Had ruined the game for a number of the players"

"He was a good player, and would never do what I did"

I had to reply to that one.  "If you wouldn"t do what I did in that position, then you"re not a good player, sorry"

The whole conversation caused much amusement amongst those playing and railing.

$5 League games, as The Duke would say, priceless.   ;D

Don"t know who the player was, I haven"t named them, I"m guessing if it was an APATer, then they would know me from my username.

APAT Silly Season has begun

Yes folks, it"s that time of year.  No more events in the schedule, everyone is speculating as to how, when, what will be in the season 5 announcement.  The "s" word gets used on a regular basis, but no one is any the wiser.  As Des has posted on another thread

I love this post the day after Season 4 finished!  I would be tempted to say at this stage that the first live event of S5 will be at the end of March and we won"t be announcing details of the season until the end of this month.  There is a lot of work to be done now so let the team get on and do it.  Remember S4 was far more challenging that S3 so there hasn"t been the same amount of time for us to finalise S5 yet.

February will be a month of planning, and hopefully we will be able to get details out at the end of the month.  It works from the top down with APAT, well in that until the headline deal has been finalised, we cannot push the buttons on the venues, satellites, leagues etc.

Luckily, we have the best man for the job to get this done.  It"s Mr Duffy"s territory when it comes to negotiations, and trust me, you want to be on his side.

We"ve been very fortunate in the past years, with some very generous sponsorship deals.  Previous to Betfair Poker we had two great years with Blue Square.  In my opinion, we"ve been spoilt in the last twelve months though, the added value that Betfair have offered to the players has simply been amazing.

But costs go up, and times are tough.  We are in a credit crunching recession after all.

To start with, there"s the insurance premium on Maylis" wardrobe.  We may have lowballed the cost to the insurance company last year, but since her profile has risen, we"re going to have to come clean about exactly how many outfits and pairs of shoes she actually transports to each event.

Then there"s the player appearance money for our celebrity players.  Gone are the days when you could pay for a particular player and get a few thrown in for free.  Brian Yates doesn"t seem to understand "recession".  We used to book Max McKinlay and we"d get an appearance from Matt thrown in.  The best deal we ever got was when we booked Steve Redfern and got Andy Overton, Will Young and Tony Trippier into the bargain.  I"ll be honest, Brian was struggling to give Trippier away at that time.  And as for the main man himself, well the real reason why he didn"t captain the BCPC in Bolton was actually because we just didn"t have enough budget left, so he took a gig in Florida instead.

To be honest, the weather and pay was much better than Bolton.

We still have issues with the venues.  You may be surprised to hear that not every venue in the country are welcoming towards an APAT weekend.  Usual questions surround "Will Chezger be attending ?".  We try and give a diplomatic answer to that one.  Then there was the time Tighty tried to book a venue in Leeds for an event.  That didn"t go well as the casino were aware of Scouse, and apparantely last time he played there, they got complaints from residents in Bradford.

But, we crack on making plans, looking to make improvements to the tour and structures, whilst reading all the comments from members about what they would like to see.

It"s really great that players are so enthusiastic towards APAT.  It really does make it all worthwhile.

Right, I"ve got some pokerz to play.   ;D

I did say this blog would be full of chips.  :D

I"m sat at home today waiting for a delivery from FedEx.  And very nice it will be too.  It"s a BluRay player that Betfair are sending me as part of the Prize Mountain promo over christmas.  Thank You Very Much indeed.

FedEx tried to deliver yesterday, but unfortunately I was working, but not a problem as they just send it out next working day.

Times passing today, so I log onto the tracker page to see what"s going on.

11:45am  Delivery attempted (I don"t think so), Card Left (I definitely don"t think so, unless one of the dogs ate it when I wasn"t looking)

So, on the phone I go, and after a quick explanation, I"m put on hold and eventually get told the driver is not answering his phone at the moment (Now there"s a surprise), but she will keep trying to get hold of him to make the delivery.

I seem to have so many problems with parcel deliveries.  Maybe I should go into business and do it right.  If internet shopping is expanding at such a rate, perhaps they want to find a better way of customers to be able to collect their goods.  I guess most that use the internet for shopping do so because they work and have limited time, so more often than not, won"t be in to accept delivery.  Hmmm, needs some thought.   ;D

Pt 1

If your place of work is static (i.e. you are always in the same location) then have the item delivered there.

I believe that many Credit Card companies will allow you to add a second address to your account precisely for this purpose. Of course, most "decent" online sellers will allow you to nominate a different delivery address.

Pt 2

Start up a delivery company that will deliver 24 hours a day...of course you"ll have to pay a premium for your drivers but then you can charge extra for a specified delivery time if it"s "unsociable hours".

Perhaps he"ll now have time to reorganise the forum and bring some of the main pages up to date too!
