Just phoned to re-arrange something with one of the rooms and was able to sort that, but was told the hotel is now fully booked up.  So if you didn"t get in when the getting was good, give me a shout and I"ll see what else we can come up with for ya.

I"ll double up with Maylis if it helps YOU out... ;D

Ahhhhh, yer very good to me.   One for the team - the hardships of it.  :D

Checked In with Ryanair, confirmed my Thu night hotel near LTN aiport & parking. Sorted!

REMINDER: Ryanair require you to carry your passport.*

*Yes, I know you should have it as we"re going abroad.

Technically you do not need a passport to travel from the UK to Ireland - however as is their want Ryanair make up their own rules.

I had a feeling this was the case (but wasn"t sure)...but if I"m flying over water to another country, it"s abroad as far as I"m concerned.

*and I"d hate to argue this with passport/border control even though I"m right...you never know what those muppets will do.

From the FCO

Quote

Ireland, along with the UK, is a member of the Common Travel Area. This means that British Citizens do not require a passport to visit Ireland. However, Irish immigration officers will check the IDs of all passengers arriving by air from the UK and most airlines will not carry passengers to and from Ireland unless they have seen satisfactory photographic ID before boarding. Travellers to Ireland are therefore advised to take their British passports with them.

Ryanair website doesnt allow for using drivers licence as ID, but I have used mine successfully as ID at the gate. But! you just never know what stunt Ryanair staff are likely to pull at any given time or place.

The UK Photo DL is not an EEU approved National Identity Card...but it"s possible the Ryanair people don"t know that.

Handy for Vegas though...as they think it"s equivalent to their DLs which, of course, it ain"t*.

*The UK"s official DL is STILL the paper thingy which you should produce to the blue-lighters on request (or get a "7 day wonder")
