APAT OnLive - Blue Square Update
« on: December 02, 2007, 14:09:31 PM »
The scene is set for the final event of APAT Season One, and in a little over 25 minutes, play will commence on Blue Square, where we will play down to six players, who will go on to contest the final of this event at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London on December 15th.

In addition to a cash prize, Cup, Gold medal and title, the winner of this event will walk away with an expenses paid entry to the main event of the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

To add further colour, today could also decide the final positions within the APAT Rankings, where 9 players are in with a chance of usurping Mark Donnelly at the top of the leaderboard.  The victor in that battle will find themselves in the Caribbean in a month"s time contesting the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure event.

Please update us here on your key hands and situations as we seek to find our final Champion and overall Player of the Year for Season One.

Good luck to everyone.

With 134 players currently registered for the event, how must Mark Donnelly feel at home at the moment?  "Sitting duck" might be an apt description.  Unfortunately, Mark is unable to participate today for reasons outside of APAT's control and with 9 players within a result of overtaking him at the top of the Rankings, all Mark can do is sit and wait.

So who are his competitors?  Mark currently has 43 Ranking points and sits 8 ahead of his nearest challenger, Wayne Parker.  The winner of this event will get 18 points, with 18th place receiving 1 point.  So Parker needs to finish 10th or better to secure his place on the plane to the Caribbean.  For an online specialist, arguably that"s a pretty big target.....

The list of contenders who can still win are:

35   Wayne Parker   noseyp (needs to finish 10th)
31   Brendan Hartnett   twignbud (needs to finish 7th)
31   Alistair Fowler    Ironside* (as above)
31   Steven Talbot   PayDaRake (as above)
30   Kevin Shutt   amitightorloose (needs to finish 6th)
30   Richard Davies   rhmd* (as above)
29   Daniel Phillips   yappari (needs to finish 4th)
26   Antony Wolsey   Pilf (needs to finish 1st)
25   Stephen Lacey   steveinhants* (needs to win for playoff)
* not confirmed Blue Square names.

In the event of a tie for the Rankings lead, a heads up match will be arranged on Blue Square.  The equivalent of a penalty shoot-out in football.  I would probably want to give that one a miss myself!  But lets not get ahead of ourselves, as there are several hours of survival between any on the above list and Mark Donnelly"s season points total.

Under the circumstances, I"m surprised you went in with Ace Ace first hand!  That will make for an interesting debate after the event  ;)
