Play in Gala MC like 3 times a week (depending on run-good), gonna play my first APAT at Newcastle.

I"m sure the gala mc will welcome the APAT players with open arms. It"s normally the home of Scottish bingo poker !!!!

Having played there many times i"m also sure they"ll welcome us, just concerned about the size of the venue especially over a normally very busy weekend.

Capacity for the event is 120, which they are happy to host

I played the cheap bingo comp on Sunday & as a casino the venue is fine but if this sells out it"s gonna get very tight for space !! Also it gets very warm as the gaming floor is in the basement. I think some players will be sweating more than just a flop at times.

I"ve played a few tournaments in hotels & I think they make for a more relaxing venue to play poker in. I"m sure some hotels across the uk would welcome such an event as the apat tour just a thought for next year ?

To run an event in a UK hotel needs a Gaming commission licence. That costs, in time and money

You then need to get tables, dealers, chips, clocks, security

the cost is completely prohibitive

In places like Ireland it is done..there is no Gaming commission and the operators charge big rake in both torunaments and cash games to cover their costs, and more

As far as Glasgow leg is concern ed, the venue is laying out new space, not normally used for poker, to host us.

Gala Merchant , may be small , and the smaller field probally reflects this , but to be honest , I am just delighted it is in Glasgow, rather than Aberdeen, or Edinburgh as was previous, and will just make the most of it whatever space is like.

yer the likes of when the nutz league play in the MC gala they tend to turn upstairs into partial cardroom aswell, that being said im not really looking forward to the usual weekend of busy gaming floor in there especially due the the cardroom not being seperate from the gaming floor.
