Sorry guys, due to pressure of work on my side (Jon is patiently waiting), we are not going to get the update done prior to this weekend.  The update will happen next week and will include the results from Edinburgh, giving a clear steer on positions leading into the final leg of the Regional Championship.

Now I know i have mentioned points updates before, and I have had a break from Poker from the last month with the odd poor appearance, but I as a APAT player find this very frustrating.  Now I am not having a go at Jon, as I understand these roles are voluntary, and also results are gathered from Blue Square.  But for myself, and I hope other members agree, regular points updates are of upmost importance on this website and forum.  We all play Poker to win, and in some cases we actually do, and as Poker is scored on points in this online/regional/national series, is there any chance there could be more of an effort to update the points on a more regular basis????? As competitive members/players we all like to know where we are ranked, as this can encourage us to play harder or be more enthusiastic towards playing.  If points are noty rergularly updated it makes me wonder if there is any point!
Could you imagine picking up the Monday paper and ont being able to see the results from the weekend, no current Table? in fact, no updates of scores orresults for the last 2months! Where is your team in the Table????? did they beat Man U?
As you can see from my point, players and members like to see theere score!

This is not the premier league and unfortunately we cannot guarantee a better service this season.  We are hugely reliant on third parties to get the data to us and this is a struggle.  Inevitably it may lead to a cut back in the number of ranking events held in Season Three, because we equally want to see the tables udpated after each event; as they were during Season One.

The delay is obviously related to counting up all the points I"ve won this season.

The winner of the APAT Online Rankings will receive an entry to the World Amateur Poker Championship being played at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino over the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2008.

I have a question regarding the above (apologies in advance if this has been asked before somewhere else).  The National Schedule has this event starting on 30th August which is the Saturday after the Bank Holiday weekend.  Does anyone know which weekend it will be held ?

Not that I will win the Online rankings but I do have a National entry to use and if it is the BH weekend I better ask the wife while she is under anaesthetic giving birth next week !!!!!

I suspect that the guys who update the Premier League table do it as part of their day jobs! I have to say that when I get home at night, I could not turn my attention to running something like APAT in my spare time..... huge credit to the likes of Des, Jon, and the rest of the APAT mgmt team...... and I don"t think there is ANY room at all for criticism. The whole APAT shebang is top notch!

We are all aware what a great job all the volunteers at APAT do but that doesn"t mean that if something isn"t right we are not allowed to point it out.

Btw this isn"t a dig at anyone just an observation. Tbh I believe Des and Jon would be the first to say that the Rankings for this season have not been updated as they would have envisaged. There are obviously problems with getting the data from all the relevent parties and as Des has said this will be taken into consideration in Season Three.

Anyway if it helps I have 7 more points then Kinboshi!

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some moments ago

and, I think

There is always room for criticism because no system is perfect.

But that does mean it will still not be perfect after we address any single criticism. So there will never be an opportunity for everything to work exactly as every member would like it to.

Although you might want to be careful around Des - he gets a bit tetchy
It"s a bit like when someone asks whether it"s his round.   ;)

Although parts of my original post seemed critical, it wasn"t meant in that way! As a very competitive person, it"s just frustating not knowing how well you are doing in a series and also nice to be able to highlight the players that are doing well in the series so you can either avoid getting involved in a hand with them or push them all in with 72os to try and frustrate them and get lucky!!!!!!

I fully understand why the points are not regularly updated, but was only really asking if there was anyway that they could be! purely because I feel that any new members/players may be put off playing by something as important as this! It has definately made me think twice about continuining within the APAT series both online and regional, because whether or not there are problems obtaining results it should in theory be easy enough to rectify! After all, it is in Blue Squares interests to make these results available on a more regular basis as it will, in my opinion make the APAT Tour more inviting to new and current players.

I can understand frustration regarding non update of ranking points. I am awaiting points from 24th April.

I have been lucky enough to make a few on-line final tables this season and have noticed other members observing the action and in many cases posting updates in the forum.

How would APAT feel about APAT members posting the top 9 results on the forum, which could be used to update a provisional ranking table and then be confirmed by Blue Sq at a later date?

Not a bad suggestion.  Have to see what Des and Jon think of it.

Its a great suggestion, I made this a while ago, along with the same idea for the regionals..
