I don"t think I played the HORSE last year but in general it SHOULD work like this....

Blind Levels increase every 30 minutes.

Each game is played for 1 rotation (usually 8 hands depending on table sizes) before changing to the next.

The two things aren"t connected although it does generally work out to 1 game per level.

Does that make sense?

That"s correct

A game is played for one round, then the game moves to the next variant..irrespective of clock. the clock goes up every 30m

Last year"s played til 2am Tuesday morning. Someone got left on point duty updating it.

The structure makes for a fine game.

And the year before that was a 4am finish with the notorious Jon MW versus Andrew T heads up that went on and on and on and on and on...........................

to be fair, to get left with the human fish heads Up in non hold em limit variants past midnight after 5 long days is really an APAT worker"s worst nightmare.

This year, I rather hope for The Duke versus Owston. They"ll both be too smashed to do anything other than shove it in ona one hand razz turnover for the title.

So depending on table speed, one table could be playing hold em while another is playing razz?

What will the format of the HU be?

I presume as per last year the final will have 10,000 chips, the semi"s 5,000 and the prelim rounds 2,500. I really hope not though, as 2,500 really isn"t enough.

yes, so if you get moved then check what game is playing - I don"t "think" there was any particular problem caused by it before

We are discussing this with Simon Trumper.  Heads Up tournaments do put a considerable strain on dealer resources, especially one that will start at 3pm on a Friday.  Add to that the fact that we have doubled the number of runners, and we just need to make sure that we are ensuring a balance between a value for money structure and DTD"s ability to run a smooth event.  The feedback from last year was that the later rounds were great, so we will try and improve on starting stacks as best we can.

Many casinos and poker sites handle the rotation of games differently. For example, in the WSOP HORSE event each game is played for one hour rounds, then play switches to the next game. However, on many poker sites like PokerStars, play switches every eight hands, which results in game switches every five minutes or so.
