Amateur Poker Association and Tour and European Poker Tour to merge London, April 2011
It has been announced today the the Amateur Poker Association and Tour (APAT) and the European Poker Tour (EPT) have reached agreement on a merger of the two organisations, subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. The new Organisation, to be known as the A and EPAT, will provide Poker Tours across the whole spectrum of European Poker and an unrivalled Poker Association to represent players interests with Stakeholders.
Des Duffy, Managing Director of APAT,

"I am delighted to come to this agreement with my namesake John Duthie for our two organisations to combine. With our expertise in running tours for recreational players and the EPT"s excellent position in higher buy in events we will be a collossal Goliath across European Poker."
John Duthie, Managing Director of the EPT,

"We are now in our seventh season of the EPT, but I have always felt there has been something Missing. That thing, I have recognised, will be addressed in our post merger planning **"
Jon Young, editor of the WPT magazine expressed shock at the news when contacted last night.
He said "The A and EPAT certainly has a ring to it, lets hope its not a hospital pass for Tighty and Leigh"
Editors Notes:
A new company Duffy Duthie Ltd (to be known as D Squared Ltd) will acquire both companies, and the first event of the combined A and EPAT will be in Newcastle over four days at Easter.
** Gerard Smyth Senior will be appointed Merger Czar, with the sole task of instructing hundreds of pasty faced Scandinavian teenagers in how to get wrecked so as to introduce the APAT ethos into the EPT and hence the A and EPAT.
