National League - Season 5 Week 2
« on: April 10, 2011, 14:33:15 PM »
Round 2 of the league is tonight on 888Poker.

This is a tough week for us as a lot of our players will be missing due to a local clash, so we need as many players as possible who are not involved to show up, so we can maintain our position as one of the teams to beat in this league.

Remember - we are in Division 1 and the password for the game is apatdiv1.

We"re pretty short tonight as most of our players were playing a live tournament in Portsmouth.

Playing tonight:

woodylppl
Spartan735
steveinhants
Talllady14
mporter1
chrismn71
Bitofatart
MintTrav

Also registered is miniminttrav (yeah I know), who may be along, but not soon cos, last heard of, he was 2nd chip-leader starting the final table of said tournament.

miniminttrav has arrived in style. Having been blinded down to 2500 before he arrived, he has quickly shot up to over 12k and 7th place at this break. steveinhants is 2nd. Not many of us tonight, but we"re good!

What a time to get disconnected. Last I saw of the game, we had 5 players in the top 11, despite being short-handed this week, so it was looking like it could be a great night for Solent. And so it turned out - we won in style, with 4 players scoring in the end:

2    miniminttrav
6    19Diablo67
10   BitofaTart
19   chrismn71

steveinhants was also well up there for a lot of the night. Not sure where he finished in the end due to my disconnection, but if you get several players deep into the tournament, some will break through to the end and some will go out for whatever reason, so his contribution also counted. I see from other posts that we had 5 in the last 22 and 6 in the last 26. It must have been great near the end. I assume Solent had it won well before the finish.

What can I say about Dan Shaw (miniminttrav)? What an amazing day! He won a large MTT on Ladbrokes in the morning, final-tabled a live tournament in the afternoon/evening, arrived late to half a stack and went on finish heads-up in his first APAT event. Welcome to the team.

Playing only his second game for us, Steve Blank (19Diablo67), was near the top most of the game and also made the final table. Viv Barber (Bitofatart) had a cracking game, leading for a substantial part of it. And Chris Nicholas (chrismn71) again scored for the team, as he did last season.

And I missed it. Disappointed to lose connection when I was in the top 10. That position came courtesy of Bitofatart, who doubled me up from 9.xk to 19k when we got all-in against each other pre-flop QQ v AK. I was surprised when she called my all-in reraise - no soft treatment on the Solent team! Two more Qs sealed the matter though, as it happened, it would have been better if she had kept the chips.

To our non-scoring players, those who just missed the points and those who finished further down - keep playing, cos these things go around.

So a great team performance and some great individual performances as Solent stormed it. Watch out - we"ll be at full strength next time!

Thank"s for the kind words John, means alot :)

Thank"s to Viv and Steve for being on the rails :) Great support guys.

Had a good laugh too with some of the players playing, esp some of the comments -

"I saw miniminttrav im very scared at this"
"Are you John"s love child"

Quality banter and really enjoy being part of the team!!!

Just a quick note there may be a simple reason for it and it doesnt effect the results but why did we have 3 points deducted?????

Razz, I"ll send a message to everyone in the team when I get a chance to compose something suitably inappropriate. In the meantime, the answer to your question can be found here: http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=8548.msg141604#msg141604

I have to apologize to the team for the loss of 3 points on Sunday. I have now read the rules and won't be disclosing my Hole cards again. I didn't realise it was against the rules.  >:(

Agree, nothing to worry about, still a good win after a lower turn out than some weeks due to a local game.

Very interested to hear John"s thoughts on our "team strategy" for future games now that soft play is officially allowed. My gut instinct is that with the points structure the way it is, we should be focussing on one of us winning rather than protecting each other.

Going to be some interesting dynamics on the tables though, most importantly we need to make sure we are all up to speed with who on our table is a Solent player.

Going to be an interesting one on Sunday.
