I"ve covered almost all the UKIPT events detailing the bad beats and hero calls of each tournament for the PokerStars Blog and while there have been a whole host of players to make a lasting impression on the felt, only one has stood out away from it.
Dan "Cardiffbiker" Owston is a satellite specialist who can regularly be found putting the bar through due diligence. For me, a UKIPT doesn"t really start until Owston turns up. On this occasion he announced his arrival by shouting, "You"re so sexy, I love you so much," to someone in the bar.
My favourite Owston moment has been watching the welshman screaming "ALAN! ALAN! ALAN!" over and over again into the face, and then the rapidly escaping back of Alan Rogers, PokerStars head of video blogging. It lasted all the way from the hotel lift to the safety of the confused Rogers" bedroom.
I said Owston was a nice bloke, I didnt say that he was sane. He"s also not too shabby at poker, having made one UKIPT final table, and narrowly missing out on another.
