Awkward decision to make! Slowplaying pre flop
« on: April 17, 2011, 20:01:36 PM »
Pub league. Mostly regulars an very friedly atmosphere. Like most pub tourneys the final table has about a 10bb average stack and it"s shove fold stuff

I"m im SB and I never look at my cards before my action. Like to watch others reactions and bet sizes etc to help me decide my actions but this is a super tell (infact it"s not a tell it"s something else!!!!)

As cards are dealt, BB gets up to go to order at bar when he looks at his two hole cards. He, like myself has about 4BB and i have 5BB. As he looks at his cards he says "don"t fold me I want to play"  :D

Folded to button who limps and has a stack of around 15BB. I look down and see KK.

What to do? Had 2 thoughts

A. BB seems intent to have a good hand so do I complete the blinds and let him shove/raise in the hope the limper calls too and I can get most value for my strong hand? If BB decides to see a flop then jam and effectively do a stop N go type play?

B. Raise/shove my kings in the hope to get the BB to call and the limper should hopefully fold or the BB decides his hand ain"t worth playing and folds, the limper is hopefully gonna call with his hand, and if they both fold, well my stack increases by about 25-30%

For the record, I slow play hands like this once every millennia if I"m not so short.

Call Pre, Bet 1bb on flop, C/R 2 bbs on turn and Jam that last bb in on the river whilst standing up and making thrusting move with your hips shouting "What do you think of dem apples!!!"

or just shove them all in pre whatever you prefer.

Yea it pretty much doesnt matter how u play this as long as u get ur chips in the middle, which when u have 5x is not an issue.  Theres not a lot between the 2 options in terms of EV imo.

the most important factor imo is how we have been playing up till now, i pretty much never limp in bvb and i dont like too fold much either so bascially this spot is a dream for me as i get looked up pretty light, if your style is to limp a bunch bvb and play smaller pots then its an option to limp to trap the guy. i would need a very specific dynamic to be present for me to get fancy here i just jam it in pre
