Iv seen a couple of post off late people asking what the apat rules regarding live events, is there any or is it up to the TD at the casino on the day as its allways been a nationwide problem the different casino and chains using different rules
if there is some APAT rules might be best to have them in the live section to help out the new & OLD players
APAT does have rules (HERE) on the main web site and these apply to all APAT events. Local/House rules do NOT apply.
They are not exhaustive but cover the basics. They basically mirror the TDA / Roberts with a couple of twists.
If there is a specific issue Tighty is on hand at all times.
However, try quoting APAT rules and the dealer will say he has not been made aware of them. Have witnessed this in three separate venues.
Once again players need to make myself/Leigh and the TD aware of this at the time. No one has ever mentioned this to me at an event
All venues about to host an APAT, and the person they nominate to be TD, are provided with a copy of the APAT rules and asked to TD the tournament to them, and brief their staff as well
Some it appears do not, or the staff are not listening. So something to press home for Cardiff onwards
To be honest, I hadn"t realised this was the case. I thought we abided by the local casino rules.
In Newcastle we had a situation where a player continually folded out of turn when he was going for a fag - and that was every other orbit or so. Richard Baker and I complained to the dealer who said it was ok, so we called floor.
The TD said he knew it was wrong, but it was an "accepted problem" and people were allowed to do it. I then asked if it would be ok for me to just look at my cards as soon as they were dealt, and immediately fold them regardless of my position - he said I would get a penalty for that............ errrrrrrrr - not quite sure what the difference is.
When I mentioned it to the player concerned (openly across the table), he and his mate sate next to him started to berate the whole APAT thing moaning about these amateurs coming to their casino and trying to tell them the rules! Player concerned actually finished very deep on the final table - hope he went away with a better opinion of APAT than he seemed to have at the time.
I did mention it to Rich at the end of play, but obviously too late - next time the floor gives a stupid response, I"ll ask for the "proper floor" to come over.
