It"s funny - when you mention Phil Ivey to Vegas dealers they don"t have a good word to say about him, which surprised me when I first heard it but heard it too many times now. However, Hellmuth is well liked as a generally nice person. Tipping will have a lot to do with it I guess.
One older dealer told me a story about something Joe Hachem did during one of the world series. She had dealt him aces something like 4 times in a single day, and they never got cracked. He got yanked for a table move late on and offered his hand to shake with "his favourite dealer". She felt something slip into her hand so put it straight in her pocket as there"s trouble I think for that kind of thing but when she looked later he"d passed her a $5,000 chip! Nothing to him I guess but he didn"t need to do it. Nobody does that for me when I deal at BCPC
She also said she doesn"t deal the world series any more because she hates the abuse she gets from the younger kids who have no manners and she can"t sit there all day and take it. Sad.
