Although he was runner-up again he is now top of the POTY leaderboard.

Oh god, please don"t let him win it. We"ll never hear the last of it.

Helmuth HU (again) in a non-Hold'em event.

Can"t understand how he has got HU for a bracelet twice this year. I"m sure I read somewhere that he is rubbish and can"t hack it with the young players these days.

I also read that other than the WSOP he has "done very little"

I wonder if this is all lies then?

Known as the "Poker Brat" for his always colorful, competitive and controversial personality, Phil Hellmuth has won Player of the Year honors, the NBC Heads-Up Championships, the European Poker Championships, and over 50 other major tournament titles. In 2007, he was elected to the Poker Hall of Fame. Phil Hellmuth"s net worth is staggering, with his live tournament winnings contributing in excess of $10,700,000.

Phil Hellmuth is regarded by fellow players as a veteran of the game with a large heart and a word of gold, and he has frequently supported or assisted fellow players in need.

No Phil Hellmuth bio would be complete without pointing out his extensive entrepreneurial pursuits, further cementing his passion for the game. These include his clothing and merchandise company at www.PokerBrat.com, his New York Times bestselling book Play Poker Like the Pro"s, his instructional DVD"s, his online tutorials at iAmplify.com and his cell phone games from Oasys Mobile.

Phil Hellmuth is one of the most recognizable faces on television, with frequent appearances not only as a poker player but as a host on ESPN, Bravo, and NBC, as well as a competing coach against Annie Duke on FSN"s The Best Damn Poker Show I and II.

Since 1998, Hellmuth has written 52 newspaper columns a year titled "Hand of the Week" that chronicle the amazing poker hands, stories and lessons from his journey through the legendary games against the world"s most formidable opponents. His column is syndicated in papers around the world. Phil Hellmuth also blogs exclusively for CardPlayer.com.

Agree that he has had amazing results in tournys and especially at the wsop, and i wouldnt bet against him getting a 12 title this year or next.
But whenever he is on TV shows like PAD cash game, HS poker and The Big Game. He has been completely owned by almost everyone (especially the younger players), then he goes on to moan about how bad everyone plays against him. Great to watch though.

I"d be intrigued to see how he"d get on in something like an EPT, where the play is much more aggressive and there won"t be so many recreational players as you"d get at the World Series. It"s those players he seems to struggle against the most, and generally the ones he moans about as they"re calling or 3-betting him without what HE considers playable hands.

9-ball corner pocket indeed Will!

The impression I"ve had is that he"s not that good at cash, and this has been inflated by the people who don"t like him into him not being good at anything.

I"d say it"s more that he"s bloody awful at cash, very good at beating fields containing a lot of weaker players but can"t compete with the best when playing against just them

It would be better to just say that he is not as good at cash as he is at tournaments and leave it at that. Not only can he compete with the best in the world in tournaments when playing against just them, but he has an edge over most of them.

The two events he has got to HU this year were both $10k buy-ins, mostly populated by pro players.

The shake-up in the Stud Hi-Lo included 3 Racener, 4 Forrest, 5 Benyamine, 12 Laak, 13 Seidel, 14 Chen, 15 Violette - all bracelet holders.

The end of the 2-7 event was even stronger, with 8 of the FT (and 11 of the last 14) being bracelet holders. And one of the ones who didn"t have a bracelet was November Niner Chino Rheem. 13 of the last 14 were multiple finalists.
Bracelet holders - 1 Juanda, 3 Ashby, 4 Sung, 5 Schulman, 6 Bakes Baker, 7 Habib, 9 Raymer, 11 Grospellier, 12 Chan, 13 Cantu.

Apart from Juanda, he beat all of them.

Or to put it another way - the tournament fields with weaker players, also contain lots of world class players as well.

It would be better for you to just say that he is not as good at cash as he is at tournaments and leave it at that rather than overstating your position by claiming that he can"t compete with the best when playing against just them, which is demonstrably untrue in live tournaments.

Niall Farrell, winner of the APAT team event in Bolton this year, has cashed again in Event 36 of the WSOP, this to go with his earlier cash in the series.
Also Tom Middleton is sitting in 8th place of the same event. Jon Spinks leads event 38 $1500 NLH at the end of day one.

Spinks played a couple of APATs and may have final tabled Walsall ( he may also have bubbled).

He has had 2 4th place finishes so far in the WSoP, pretty consistent stuff
Looking forward to making my first day 2
